You bet, husband or wife spills the beans about relocation to Dallas or Atlanta. Stinky stuff will hit the spinning thing. I will guarantee many devices will come of this, talk about anarchy in the domicile. It's gonna get ugly.

Follow your work with ATT and you'll live to regret it! Maybe not right away, but down the road there will be more layoffs and if your job isn't for the benefit of the big picture goals of the company, then you'll be looking for a job in another city! ATT isn't that important, no longer a great company to work for! I'd leave if I was in a forced position by the company ultimatum! I'm leaving by the 3rd quarter with a smile! Can't take the garbage T dishes out anymore!
just remember that even those that relocated a few years back ended up getting re-batched as contractors
"I've always wanted to work in Whitacre Tower. With Golden Boy in the lobby, im in! Might even see Stankey in the elevator on occasion."
You won't. I believe executive levels have their own elevators. They don't hang out with the rest of us, plebs.
I've decided to follow my work. I don't know if I'll get assigned to Atlanta or Dallas. When will I find out? I've consulted with my Tw----e, she has agreed to go a long with me.

My wife said "HE-L NO I WONT GO" I feel like beating her up.
moving for this company is like chasing the psychotic girlfriend you had back in high school. you put up with her cause she was hot and put out but in the end you still got your ba--s cut off.
Really don't know why anyone would consider moving to Ball-A-s or Hotlanta as a reasonable thing to do. There are other job markets, yaknow ... if you're gonna move.
If you have a home it will be expensive with interest rates and the current price of housing!!
No arguments here. I just said, they may want us to relocate, wife said are you going to? I said no. End of story.
Never, ever, make a job the center of your life. In 2005, I was with a different company and told they would be moving my division to a new state. I said I would not move. I looked for other positions in the company and was successful. A few years later, they asked me to move, because I did really well at the new position. They offered me relocation. I did it on my terms. Two years later when they did not give me the pay raises I asked for, I left the company, and came to AT&T at over twice the salary. Moral of my story: take this as an opportunity to go find something else he will probably be much happier.
I haven’t told my family yet, I don’t want to hear my spouse go on and on about what a cr@ppy company I work for. I am depressed enough already.
If I knew it were a solid job, I might consider it. But the thing is, I KNOW there are more layoffs as soon as everyone moves. Why risk uprooting our entire lives for a company that’s just going to fire more of us?
“Try having your high schooler coming home early after acing her last final, only to overhear a conversation about being forced to move.”
Who is forcing a move? You are making a choice.
To those who are planning to move - make sure Stinkey will guarantee you a job for at least few years. Get it in writing. And also find out what other hoops you will be asked to jump. Good luck.
“I’ve already been through one breakup and one divorce because of moving to keep a job with this company.”
I don’t know you or your situation at all, but your marriage had a lot of other problems and issues if moving led to divorce.
If a marriage or relationship can’t survive a move, it didn’t have a very strong foundation to begin with. In this way, a decision to relocate can be helpful and identify a separation that really should have happened years ago. Moving can also benefit a marriage longterm by forcing a radical change to evaluate commitment. How could a company or business break up a strong marriage?
Only the bootlickers will be put up a fight over this, and that's what our "leadership" wants-- the rest will quit and come off the bottom line.
Try having your high schooler coming home early after acing her last final, only to overhear a conversation about being forced to move. Horrible. What's worse is I don't know how to explain why. I showed her the Stankey and Legg word salad memos and that offered no comfort.
"it might be better if they gave a real reason." Wisdom from my little one.
If you’re young, single and have no children it may be worth it,
- -- yeah but you're still selling your soul and repercussions will still be down the line 5-10 years later
I can’t imagine why anyone would consider moving. No matter what “stage of life” we’re talking about. Sure, when you’re young and unencumbered it makes make sense to relocate for a job with a vibrant and growing company. This ain’t that. And anyone would be silly to move expecting that it will help their career trajectory here. It is far more likely that you’ll simply be laid off anyway.
Agreed been through this once already. Talked to wife a resounding if have to move the answer is 100 percent NO
OP, sounds like you speak from personal experience and had a tough weekend already about this. Hope you didn't get a restraining order slapped on you today by your spouse
I’ve already been through one breakup and one divorce because of moving to keep a job with this company. If you’re young, single and have no children it may be worth it, for everyone else I would strongly advise against it.
