Thread regarding Follett layoffs

So little is being done

Once they cut employee pay, a lot of people just stopped doing a lot of work. I am shocked by how little is being done in the stores now. Literally, former managers and asst. managers just talking and playing on their phones. Boxes in the back being ignored. Phone ringers turned off. Emails ignored. It's crazy out there.

Op @Bqrt+1m5sUDib. Yes, I am surprised how some stores still work at all???

I think things are going to get worse soon as far as productivity is concerned when it comes to the people they demoted unless the powers that be come up with an action plan that puts the demoted people on the path to getting promoted into a position that they actually want very soon.

I literally watched productivity go to absolute zero in 2 stores. Incredible. Literally no one doing anything for 6 weeks. And now, they all quit and there's no one to do any of the work.

So, someone correct me if I'm wrong, they laid off about 1000 people. They demoted 400 or so. They promoted 70-80 people to market leaders.

I think they expected that the initial decision to 'leave' by whatever it was, let's just say 100 former Store Managers (now campus leaders, was close to what would leave for May. Then, when May 1 rolls around, another 100-150 people quit/left along with several hundred more part-time lower level folks (former ASMs now Team-leads) who were insulted by the $150 severence bonus and instead just quit once they found new work after taking a few weeks of pay without working. This is leaving them incredibly shorthanded at every store, with huge brain drain in every region, with formerly safe contracts now screaming bloody mu---r, just as graduation and summer classes are hitting.

So, right now, no work is getting done in the vast majority of the stores. Phones aren't being answered. Emails aren't being answered. STores are closing early, opening late, and none of the staff cares at all how this reflects on Follett. It's a giant flaming pile of po-p devaluing even the inclusive access because no one is doing the adoptions that should be done.

No communication is happening between Region and Markets, Markets and stores, etc etc. No one has any real clue what is actually going on except that anyone that can do anything is being run ragged all over the place trying to keep stores open on a daily basis, and still interview people to hire quickly but not be around to train.

Is that about the size of it?

Reduced pay, no opportunity for advancement, little to no recognition, and little hope aren’t good ways to motivate a workforce, or encourage loyalty and dedication.
