Folks, it's not for us to question or fight the corporation's policies. They know what's best for us and our long term success. If you just comply we'll get through all of this faster and things can go back to normal.

"Just comply" and group think is how AT&T got into such as big mess to begin with. The record since 2007 of knowing "what's best" and "normal" doesn't inspire confidence in your statements.
Sure. The stock price, employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction all show that. Leaders make decisions based on short term goals that pad their bonus. They don’t act on strategic long term goals because that doesn’t line their pockets.
They have hired a consulting company to help them with move of employees back to office. These consultants do not understand that this company is comprised of staff from various mergers and acquisitions and therefore spread all around the country. This is not like Google with main staff in one or two locations already. And then they sold our buildings.
Jeremy Legg says we may have to go in to office on different days so there is enough room for all. So for example some go in on odd days or some on even days. What craziness is this? How is that collaboration? Why? Just so that someone's ego, Stankey's, is massaged. He talked about agile development but I bet he does not know the first thing about agile.

He said we were isolated! I know this might shock him, but most of us don't rely on work for our socialization. I talk to plenty of people.

OP, you must be a brand spanking new employee that knows zilch about the history of this company in the last 10 years or so. The bottom line is, NO, they DO NOT KNOW what is best for the future of this company. They keep throwing stuff against the wall praying something sticks and so far, have totally phucked up this company beyond recognition! So, quit acting like a good little sheep and try learning something about this company before you kowtow to the C-suite!

Actually, Stankey's email only serves as evidence for how disconnected he is. He's talking about attracting talent when AT&T has nothing to show for itself. Top talent took the first severance package 3 years ago and bailed.

They are just trying to keep the company from going bankrupt. Cut them some slack. Maybe if we’re lucky, DTV will buy us. Or maybe Cricket.
“They know what’s best for our long term success” Really? If that were true wouldn’t we be successful right now from all their brilliant ideas? I have an idea, maybe they should do the exact opposite of what they think is best. Since all their ideas so far have been wrong, the opposite must be right.
Pass me the kool-aid, I'll drink up. But you take your gulp first. That's only fair.
Problem is that leadership has only issued a high level plan with no details, and a promise that all will be revealed later (once somebody actually develops the details based on ouiji boards and brown nose statistics). And until then all of us who will be affected get to speculate, worry, gossip, lie, troll and rabble rouse.
