Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I wish people would refrain from quitting over this

This is just a play to get rid of as many people as they can without paying severance. I truly hope nobody decides to quit and then lets them figure out how to fit enough people in way too little space without pivoting back to WFH. I know it's not going to happen and many will walk away, but it would be glorious.

After you move, they will just let you WFH at the new location. They don't care about space.

Do you really believe Stankey is that stupid? He already knows there are "slick Wi--y's" that will try to game him on this new RTO policy. I could see him giving no more than three months then requesting documented proof of relocation status! You will never, I mean never, outfox Stankey.

"The CEO is just trying to be like Elon because Elon does not believe in working from home. He believes all employees should work at their employers facilities. He sees that if it's good enough for Elon, it's good enough for Johnny!"

Other CEOs have nothing but disdain for Elon so this doesn't jive. They hate how he has disrupted and gamed the US government for contracts and subsidies to prop up his businesses and they no longer get any of that sweet government bread. They make their employees settle for government cheese instead.

“If they do not offer a severance I will agree to relocate within 12 months even though I have No intention of doing so”

This employee is the 5x5x5 type!

Nope - we were told today we have until June 2024 to move. So I will sit in my current spot up to 12 months until I find a job I want.

This employee is the 5x5x5 type!

They will not pay you to relocate and they will not give you year to figure it out. You will be terminated per the RTO policy.

Transition timing
Q: What are the phases of this process?
A: We want to move quickly, but some transitions extend into 2024.

Here are a few immediate dates to keep in mind:
• In the next 30 days expect to hear from your leadership about these changes and what they mean for your organization. You can also expect to hear from your supervisor about what these changes mean for you.
• By July 10: Employees in Dallas, Atlanta and customer facing/operating teams will begin living their designations.
•By Sept. 5: Employees in the other 7 core locations begin living their designations.

Q. Aren’t we going to lose talented employees as part of this change?
A. Employment is a two-way street. It has to work for both the individual and the employer. It is our hope that you aspire to foster and support the work environment framed in our cultural pillars and desired by your company leadership. We understand employees may have to make difficult decisions and we likely may lose some talented employees during this transition. However, we believe this is necessary to create a cohesive workplace with shared goals and aspirations that connect people to greater possibilities.

Q: How are you going to enforce this new policy?
A: We believe employees will see the benefits of returning to the office, as we come together to learn, share and celebrate the great work our company does across the country. We will continue to offer flexibility in your daily work schedule, supporting your work/life balance. However, your workplace designation is an expectation of employment. If you are not meeting work location reporting expectations, you will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination of employment. Visit our How and Where We Work Policy for more details

The ones that complain the most are the ones that are the most unproductive. They want to stay home and keep getting away with personal business on company time.

Enough is enough. Time to get back in the office and do some work.

In the end, very few people (unless they are looking to relocate) will be willing to pull up stakes and move. My whole life outside of work, which is much more important to me, is here in a non-hub city. Even if you remain in a non-hub city, your chances at advancing are slim to none, as they will want to promote within the hubs.

In the end, I think there will be a lot of "brain drain" from AT&T, but then again, that seems to be what the BOD wants- a smaller group of people that jump anytime Stankey yells froggy. Minions like are on the Dallas rally videos.

even if people quit it won't save you from a layoff later on.

It will all depend on whether or not they’re going to offer a severance. If they offer a severance I will take it and go. If they do not offer a severance I will agree to relocate within 12 months even though I have No intention of doing so. I’ll work the next year for my current location while they think I am working towards relocation but really I’ll just be working towards getting another job. So many people impacted have already said they’re going to do the same thing. Only way they’re gonna get people to quit over this and not write out a year of “working in relocating” Is if they offer a severance.

Just another fine example of Stankey flexing his muscles. This guy is truly an imbecile. Every move he makes is wrong, yet some employees continue to support him. He likes to remind all employees he is the boss.

Good strategy. Managers are scrambling to figure out this poorly written Stankey email .it will take a while for action and space is limited as many buildings are gone
