WF Fico: 850 exceptional
I use Citi Double Cash for the 2% cashback on everything. Thought I would move all my spending to WF but rejected :(

I have had an employee credit card for 30 years. Closeting that. I have a 401k with 1.2 million. Moving that. Wells Fargo stock options. Selling those. Anything with the name Wells Fargo has been thrown in the garbage or given to the Goodwill. Moving on after being displaced with my new life outside of Wells Fargo. Free at last! free at last! good God I am free at last!!! And FRTO!
I tried to do the same thing. I have a 740 to 750 score and got denied because I don’t have any established business with WF. I refuse to mix my career and personal life, so I don’t even bank here. No biggy. I laughed, took the 8 point credit score hit for the inquiry and moved on with my life.
Would recommend contacting a branch banker - if you get a good one they’ll be able to tell you what happened and if it can be overcome.
@bji+1mE7Z6zm yeah, but only on the first $10,000. After that, it drops to 1.5%. Nothing exciting there ...
I wouldn't worry about it. Your job will soon be completed by 'John' in India.
Between offshoring and AI, no one will have jobs, so no need for a credit card you can't pay back.
Also, FRTO.
OP here. Here is what they said.
Thank you for applying for a new credit card. We’ve reviewed your application and are unable to approve it at this time. You’ll receive a letter from us within 30 days, and it’ll provide information about why we’re unable to offer you a credit card account.
OP seems to be avoiding answering the question as to why they were not approved.
Correct, which is a credit modeler. That is not your actual score.
No, that screenshot is from the WF Mobile App (android)
The screen shot you posted is from a credit monitoring service. I guarantee you that your actual score is at least 20 points lower. I've been an underwriter for 15 years and have yet to see an actual 850 score. These score modelers are very misleading.
You left out the most important fact- providing the actual reason you weren't approved for the card. They always provide this via letter. It could be a variety of factors not related to FICO.
OP here. I thought WF would be happy to accept super low risk business but I guess not
By the way here is the screenshot for the 850 FiCO

Ummm…
And then you were laid off?
Or you were just laid off?
Help readers connect the dots on this alleged scenario to layoffs…
FICO credit scores only go up to 850 which is so very rare for anyone to have an 850. No scores in the 900's like the one poster thinks. Even VantageScore switched to the 850 max range. Credit card issues have a separate industry score they use in addition to FICO and that may be the issue. I personally believe the post is bogus anyway.
Go to Alliant credit union and use their card. 2.5% cash back on everything...free to join credit union
Use mine all the time, no issues.
850? Nah. WF needs only people who are 851 and above. Our EC has people who are at 900 to 999.
I suppose the OP's application was rejected despite a exceptional credit rating because he/she is on the list of the next set of people to be layed off.
Honestly, I tried the active cash card but it was pretty disappointing. The WF online banking portal it not intuitive to use compared to our big bank competitors. I always pay off my card every time I use it, and I was "hand slapped" for making too many payments within 1 month. I used it for the sign up bonus and tossed it in the trash after.
What caused the decline ?
