I am a WF manager, I don't want to give any clues to my identity other than to say I work out of a west coast branch. I have long suspected that a direct report of mine got in some major trouble with law enforcement. That person has been able to stay actively employed with minimal interruptions to their job performance. Although this employee has used suspect multiple PTO days for odd reasons that I am almost certain were to deal with this "issue". I just conclusively confirmed my suspicions online, this employee was convicted of a felony. This is not conjecture, it is confirmed on a state website. With that said, this employee has not reported this felony conviction to me, or for that matter to HR. Is this something I can report to HR? I am not comfortable having a felon on my team or working for the company, but unsure of procedures for being able to report this, if I legally can at all?

WHY would you NOT report this to the ethics line? Makes me question YOUR integrity. You have an obligation to protect the bank and the rest of the employees. You don't have to do the investigation, just report it and let them handle it.
You’re asking for legit management advice on this forum? Geeze
Take them out of yours or whom ever’s purse! Grow a set!
Chicken cr@p
Hopefully that catch another felony when they catch you snitching. It may not be right away so always be on alert. Look up 6 9. Stay out of the LA Fitness
There was an employee in my area that held a g-n to a fast food worker because they got her drink wrong. She was arrested and fired.
I don’t want to be working with people like that. They are amongst us already.
Employees have been canned for lower-level infractions. Remember that VP in India who pi$$ed on another passenger during a flight from the US to India? He was terminated either for the act itself or the negative publicity five months after the act.
Perfect example of all the poor managers in this company. You take hundreds of classes don’t you? What part of the code of ethics training did you
Miss? I highly doubt you could possibly be a real manager if you can to a lay off site and asked such stupid questions.
Ethics line and don't forget to mention about half the politicians as well
Op, they should fire you. You are a mo--n with too much time in your hands. You are stalker material. Unreal “questionable”pto. Get a life!
you're not a manager nor a leader or men/women
If you are in fact a manager at WF and you had to post this on a layoff board speaks volumes to what others have said about WF management on this forum. Do everyone a favor and go back to being an individual contributor. You are not manager material.
is the employee doing their work or bothering others? Is the person stealing from the bank? Was this person's misconduct more egregious than those of the WF execs who were stealing from customers and foreclosing their homes? If it's not then stay out of it.
If it’s your garden variety DUI that will not be a fireable offense. Violent crimes like battery, domestic violence, etc also not a problem unless a firearm was involved, I believe.
Anonymous ethics line call would kick off a review, just don’t be surprised if the person isn’t fired.
Sounds like you’re looking for trouble lady.
Mind your own beeswax. There’s a reason why that quote exists.
Maybe you should mine your own business!!? Not every felon is dangerous. You sound like an AHole.
Convictions are public record. Employee is bound by ethics to report this information to you as the manager and to the bank. They failed to do so. Cut to the chase and submit an Emergency Termination ART Request on them. Otherwise, your manager might have you terminated as well.
"is this something I can report to HR?"
That is sad that you, a supposed manager, had to ask an annon gossip board for advice. in dealing with HR. I guess they don't require that much knowledge in order to manage.
Since you kinda stalked your employee online and now want to be the narc, then report them. Just don't be suprised of the possible blowback you might receive from either your other employees or from the bank. Excuse me, the Firm.
You have an obligation to report it and if you can find it online so can HR. Anonymous to the Ethics Line or use an anonymous email to your director.
Not all felony's result in them not being able to be employed with the bank. A felony conviction of the below would preclude them from being employed.
Bribery
Forgery
Burglary
Fraud
Check kiting
Theft or larceny
Bad checks (if over $1,000)
Impersonation
Concealment of assets
Misapplication/misappropriation of funds
Corruption
Money laundering
Counterfeiting
Perjury
Dr-g trafficking/illegal sale, manufacture, or distribution
Possession or receipt of stolen property
Embezzlement
Robbery
Extortion
Shoplifting
Falsification or falsifying documentation, evidence, or an oath
Treason
The bank has as a bond to operate. The bank cannot employ a convicted felon. If you know about this and you did not report it, you will also be fired along with the employee. The ethics line is operated by a third party and they send the information to Wells Fargo. If you do not disclose who are to them the bank will never know or have anyway of finding you.
Go to the media with the story. They love muck
If you are anxious about calling from your cel you can buy a throw-away.
You can request anonymity over the phone if you call or you can submit via a web portal anonymously. There should be a link in teamworks or teamworks at home to do so.
Your phone number shouldn't be shared with investigations if you request anonymity.
Immediately submit a promotion to head of Community Banking.
Thank you both. I can call ethics line but my concern is calling from my work phone. I know ethics line is supposed to be "anonymous", but I'm sure my identity is obvious if I call. You think dialing *67 will work from my cell so as to not have my cell # identified will work? I'm willing to give it a shot. I fear retaliation if said employee finds out.
I know which office and employee you're talking about :(
Ethics line for sure
Ethics line or employee relations. Ethics line goes straight to enterprise investigations, who will open a case and look into it.
