Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What is left to sell?

It sure seems like we've sold off just about everything owned by at&t. Two things that comes to mind that can and should be sold are all Central Office buildings and the fleet. Of course both would need to be leased back, but this would give the company a financial boost. What else can you think of that could be sold off? If at&t ever goes into bankruptcy, it would be a quick process without any physical assets to work through.

Um, excuse me, selling off and leasing back CO's is a great idea when you are $135B, with a Capital B, in debt! Sorry Junior, everything is on the table when you need to clear debt.

Selling the C/O buildings is one of the d-mbest ideas I have heard. They are old, and well built. The company owns them free and clear. Empty space is room for growth, we just need smart decisions to grow the company and the network.
The Generators are required by law, we must maintain our network, not just on nice sunny days but during storms. Smaller offices can share portables. Large offices need generators so we don’t lose the office. Some offices only have 4-8 hours of battery reserve. If a tornado, hurricane, ice storm, blizzard and the power goes down for longer than the reserve. The office will go down, all the cell service, internet, voice and not just for AT&T but other companies too. The generator is the first line of defense, batteries act to stabilize commercial power and the last defense to keep the office online until we get the generator started or can have a portable brought over and connected. Your lack of knowledge of our network makes me believe you are management, or maybe your Stankey posting and trying to feel relevant.

Cybersecurity services business may sell soon, but in relative terms to overall debt it's chump change. T also has a massive ton of dead office space and a crazy amount of nearly vacant buildings, but nobody wants office buildings now. T should give them to state or local govt or universities and take tax writeoffs, assuming anyone actually would take on these big maintenance cost cash burners, even if given themfor free. So t likely stuck with them and will watch them decay and rot over time.

The CEOs and higher ups have effectively looted the company of its assets and used that money to pay their exorbitant salaries.

They could also have the technicians turn in their tools and hock them at the local pawn shop, then rent the tools needed daily. Makes as much sense as selling paid for assets (CO) and leasing back.

Well, I think from a leadership perspective, if I well, well, look at this from a 30 thousand foot level. I think this makes perfect sense. If we can make the thing do the other thing and things do what things do, we should have synergies in places we didn't have before. Is that about right?

Spin off wireless and wireline. They can then sell wireless since it’s a race to the bottom and we are losing. #1 to #3, heck my employee plan costs as much as T mobile’s regular family plan rate. I would actually save money switching.

after reading the comments on selling CO's, understand now why this company is in the shape it is.

The could try to split the company - into 3 parts. Wireless, backend, and the rest (tv Mexico, etc). Backend would become like CenturyLink.

A lot of our buildings are just not worth that much. They do however cost a fortune to maintain.

There is a lot of open space in many of the Central Offices, with several thousands of square feet of empty air conditioned space. (Complete with a generator that will never get used) SWBT, now AT&T paid BECK construction a criminal amount of money to expand the footage on many of these buildings. I can name several locations. A lot of kick backs were paid. I don't feel bad for one second if I "claw" back a little from the company.

Right after AT&T sells the Central Offices, there is an additional way Stankey could raise money.
He can get a title loan on all the company owned vehicles. The interest rate on these loans is through the roof, but that never would stop a "leader" such as Stankey from making a bad deal for AT&T.

To be honest the sign is a victim of high winds, half of it blew away. Stankey is desperately trying to find money to put things back. The sign company wants $120K to replace the sign. Maybe it's time to look at insurance to cover this type of claim. They are checking now to see if the building landlord will pay for replacing the sign.

Drove by Corp in Dallas, half the logo was missing from the east side of the building. I guess that’s new logo indicating the company is half of what it used to be. Finally someone came up with marketing I can relate to.

Reduce exec salaries and bonuses and hold them accountable!

This makes perfect sense, but would never happen because that would be deemed as punishment to the C-suite personnel. They would then leave the company for another high paying salary elsewhere! These people are narcissists and do not feel responsible one iota for the shape the company is currently in. Therefore, the beatings will continue until morale improves!

NOONE will buy these wore out buildings or fleet. The co’s are falling apart. They stopped even sweeping or mopping them years ago. The fleet is not much better. A large percentage are vehicle’s 10+ years old with over 200000 miles that should’ve been taken off the road years ago . This guy must be one of the managers that put our company in the situation they are in now.

If AT&T sells the Central Offices, then one should run very fast from this stock. That would indicate a desperate last move gesture. Nothing would surprise me though. We do have Stankey trying to clean up Randell's failures. It is a Sisyphean task. Albeit, Stankey is slow student as he knows most about everything.

Yeah, that would be a d-mb move to sell CO’s and lease. Grasshopper thinking when they need to be like the ants but nothing surprises me anymore. At least the C-suite is still getting their raises and bonuses, priorities.
