Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Atlanta market for WBS/PCG

Ive been working at the Atlanta RSC now for let's say between 1 and 5 years. The level of incompetence is starting to get out of hand with managers. We lose more CAs via layoffs or being sent to new positions only to now have the average CA covering 5 to 7 FAs. Client complaints are growing, FAs are threatening to leave the firm cause CAs are swarmed with too much coverage. Some are million dollar plus producers. We have managers who cant recruit to save their lives but you make the smallest mistake and they act like you are about to destroy the place. Also, if they cant recruit why are they still working here? Another thing, Im noticing a huge pattern especially more on PCG than WBS (not by much) on who is getting laid off or moved to positions outside. Not white, not married, no kids...usually all 3. Some of the managers here are stuck in 1960s America and it shows on who is laid off, pushed out to new roles unwillingly and promoted. When every promotion the last 45 days has been a white male that is a problem. My spouse makes good money. I can take the hit. We need outside help with what's going on. Back when this place was ran by women, of all backgrounds, this place ran more logically. This place is borderline eugenics based on who is targeted for new reason.

@eq rules do apply to WIM staff, but not client facing offices.

It’s a regional branch, WIM will always maintain a significant presence there no matter what happens to Atlanta’s status as an enterprise “hub”

@eq there's a large CIB presence in Atlanta too and they'll probably be fine. Everyone else though is in trouble. CIB is actually relocating to a new building I believe.

That makes sense. No rules apply to wim so I'm sure they'll survive the axe swinging. They're going to be alone in Atlanta though. Sad end for a former hub.

@bt yes, but that has nothing to do with what the Op is talking about. Using a lot of specific acronyms to WIM.

They want to lay off as many Client Associates in the branch as possible. So pretty soon you won't be supporting 6 FAs, and your Financial Advisor will need to do $1mm to even have his assistant in the same office. There is a centralized group called RCAST that will assist most FAs. CAs in PCG will slowly be eliminated. And yes, they accentuate every minor error. Meanwhile, back office Operations in India and Philippines is horrendous. Oh wait, we gave AI Teammate to help you.

I have no idea what all those acronyms mean, all I can say is that Atlanta is the Portland of the SE. HY hates it and wants to close that former hub, and they will. A skeleton crew of sales people still survive, not much else. The population in admin buildings is already tiny. There will be talk of "consolidation" first, then they'll keep whittling away until we just lease one or two floors of office space in the whole city.
