I'm a people leader and I'm being told by my SVP and EVP I must hire only from the GCC. I can't help but feel like this is some what discrimatory , shouldn't I be able to hire who is best for the job? Not just only from the GCC? So I'm being forced to hire from the GCC all while managers onshore that look like they came from the GCC only hires ppl that also reflect people from the GCC. What is happening?

@eg someone overseas in a country that's absolutely riddle with fraud. But other banks do it so it's fine, or something. Ugh.
OP - it’s annoying and frustrating. You’re not alone. Remote management here and things are starting to feel on the verge of being unethical. Let’s all focus on getting back to an in office culture, meanwhile sensitive personal information is being accessed by someone overseas. We have good people in the bank that want to advance, it should not matter where they are located.
The Community Reinvestment Act should be updated to evaluate banks' offshoring practices as part of their requirements.
WF had the same rule when they ramped up their offshore offices in India and the Philippines.
Can we also note that this bank cares about doing the right thing and cares about diversity. My entire group of managers are mentally challenged and U.S. Bank continues to support them in poor decision making and risky behavior. Proud to work here is an understatement.
Of course we can and will! We are the most ethical companies in this country! My leadership, especially my direct manager, make me a better person everyday by inspiring me with their morales, integrity and ethics. How did I ever get so lucky?
Can we not blast people who don't know all the details about something? For all we know, they are new, job hunting here (ha) or just getting a feel for the company. Just inform, no need to be a je-k about it.
@am this is a bad example I know of remote employees in this state currently at the bank in high positions.

Of course they can. D-mb question. If you have an opening can you hire in Alabama ? No, because mgmt said it must be in the hub. Same applies. They tell you where to hire and you must because they are in charge.
