Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Nothing says "we are proud of our flexibility" quite like the threat of collective punishment.

What a joke. I'm fine with the 3-day RTO enforcement, but not counting holidays as in-office is a kick in the teeth, for sure.
The corpo-rat doublespeak is glaring. Sure, "we are proud of the flexibility of our hybrid model," BUT here are a lot of things making it as inflexible and inconvenient as possible. Also, "most colleagues adhere to the requirements," BUT we felt the need to hit everyone with brutal collective punishments.
I don't know who believes this cr-p; they are not even trying anymore.

@rn - I was ratted out by the office timecard police. She must have a little notebook and records what time everyone comes in and emails our directs if we leave within 7 hours. She needs to get a life. Has no clue I am up before the sun working at my remote desktop before she has a chance to feed her flying monkeys.

I can confirm the 5 min check in the morning no longer works, I've been hybrid for 2 yrs noone I work with me is at my location the rest of the team is spread around USA. I was called into a manager meeting my manager was notified of my 5 min visit for my hybrid days and I was given a warning only due to me pushing back that there's isn't a direct time frame given on how long to stay. Anyone else planning to test it out becareful they will catch you

The idea of RTO 5 days a week might work at some locations but major hubs are not big enough for everyone to RTO full-time. Seats are not available to reserve. How will employees be held accountable if they can't find a seat?

@f2

AND the first employees to Quit are the highly Rated 1s/2s, the employees Sh!tibank needs to help fix Sh!tibank.

The highly Rated employees have options, skills and knowledge Competitors want and need.

The employees who'll remain @Sh!tibank are the ones Sh!tibank doesn't want, and because they're the employees who are Low Calibre or mediocre at best!

Sh!tibank is Fvcking Itself Over and sh00ting itself in the foot🦶 with its RTO policies and also Not including PTO and Holidays in the RTO !

Let Sh!tibank continue to dig it's own Grave🪦 just like it's been doing for the past 25 + years. LOL!😁

Soon it will be either 4 or 5 days in.
I'm good with the 3 days in but I know many were taking advantage and barely coming in or not coming in at all. So, this is where we are now. If people didn't take advantage, this wouldn't have even been brought up.

All employees should go into the office with serious and depressed faces, countenances.

Do NOT laugh at anything, Not even if someone tells a joke.

Sh!tibank will see it's employees looking and acting like depressed, stoic drones, zombies like in the movie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Research shows demoralized and depressed employees do the bare minimum work (which will keep Sh!tibank at the bottom of the bank rankings LOL!), and some are actively job searching.

Any "Free" lunches or food are NOT a substitute for paying more for petroleum, commuting costs, parking, childcare, the exhaustion of RTO, etc..

If Sh!tibank offers "free" food/lunch, take your food, but with a serious and depressed-looking face, And don't chit chat or interact with anyone else because this is what Sh!tibank wants employees to do.

Sh!tibank thinks just because it's giving out "free" food employees will suddenly want to RTO because they'll be making BullSh!t conversations with their coworkers while they eat the "free" food.

Take your food and then eat it at your RTO desk !

@OP it seems that Sara's email was highly effective, though. Today, the Jacksonville campus was packed, and the office felt like little Bombay, no we know who wasn;t showing up.

@e0 it's global. The only sites that it does not affect are the ones without badge readers since there is no way to track it.

What site or departments is this affecting? I have not received a RTO email- Florence.

@a3 Yes - this is exactly what is happening. This is a calculated move that will impact caregivers, older workers and employees with health issues.

@OP Hopefully the 5 days RTO are delayed, future does not look bright with the gas prices....With the national average at $4.48—and states like California averaging over $5.80—a long-distance daily commute can easily drain hundreds of dollars a month in pure fuel costs. YEAP

They are not changing the status quo much. The holidays not counted as in-office days have minimal impact on NAM employees; we only have 12 days a year. The whole purpose is to pi-s people off to increase attrition and to start putting the big offenders into a PIP and riff them without severance.

@as Lmao the company does not give me a damn thing, holidays and national holidays are state mandated in my location, it is not up to the goodwill of the corporate but written in law. Your argument makes no sense, I think you are just ragebaiting.

Obviously most people would prefer WFH every day, but on the other hand, how is "not counting holidays as in-office a kick in the teeth"?

You don't count weekends as in-office.
A holiday is essentially the same thing, but even better, since it's not only a day off that the company gives you, but on holidays you're paid while also being off from work.

You're not expected to be in the office for a holiday any more than you're expected to be in the office over the weekend, so why would or should holidays even be considered to be included in any tally of in-office days?

Some people are so bu+thurt about RTO that they're not being logical or using basic common sense.

The email doesn't specify about 3 days fully in office, only mentions coming in 3 days. I guess I'll keep testing to see if we can still do half days. It's best to not ask and just test it out till they say otherwise.

Soon enough it will be 5 days in office and there will be 0 advantage at Citi compared to other banks work/life balance.

Given this announcement followed by the rumor of only giving one week's severance pay per year served beginning next year, there's only one of two possibilities here. Either Citi leadership is incredibly stupid (which I don't believe), or they are trying to force attrition. They don't want to pay expensive severance packages so they are hoping more people will leave, volunarily.

@a1 they want us to code red the folks not doing 3 days into compliance à la full metal jacket style

I think we will all be in office 5 days, it's just a matter of when. They'll say it was because people didn't adhere but full weeks has probably been the plan all along and this will just be the excuse. Why else would you now not include holidays? Because you want people there to watch and micromanage.

yeah honestly that was the only thing I found weird in that email...

I mean we are all hybrid workers and we all know what 3 days should be. it's been quite abused from what I can tell...so an enforcement email to set expecations is totally fine.

but WTF that collective punishment thing. thats weird.
