Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Tired of this place ..

I know my role will be made redundant soon… training up AI and GSC to take my role is so dehumanising after being in this company for years, I am sure others are feeling this too. What if we all just walked out and called a strike? Everyone tools down, service down and called a strike till they listened to our demands of job security and duty of care ? What is the worst that could happen ?

@jp there is a large hub in the Phillipines who have taken a lot of our local roles and continue to do so. Not every role has transitioned to genpact.

I'm curious how exactly are you training GSC people to replace you, since GSCs have been pretty much dissolved a few months back.

In a large size plant of $100~200 million output, only the plant director is incentivized to work hard as he/she has the stock options. None of the other people underneath has any stakes. Just do your minimum job and let the directors worry. They can answer to the VPs and senior leaders themselves.

People are selfish. You can see that when you commute. They will use merge lane to jump infront of you. Governments and cooperate thugs have taken advantage of this.

Do bare minimum, f the management, keep getting checkques, collect the package at exit and forget about this company once you join the next one, it's that simple. It's obvious they will layoff everyone they can and move to India as much headcount as possible, there is no point in giving your best to this company

@a3 agreed. The majority will kiss the boots of leadership all the way to the end.

@a5 I hear you! We are way beyond logic and sense until you accept they want you to leave. It is the only way this makes sense.

@OP sounds great..... except those not on the chopping block would likely not participate.

Take your future into your own hands, don't give them any loyalty. You will not get any in return. Get your resume up to date, get networking and get out.

@b9 they likely want more to leave. Eventually someone will come along with a new hybrid model (core hours of 9 to 3).

@b9 pre-COVID, core hours were 9-3. If they're going to pay me the same amount each month & require me to punch a time-clock, I want to be paid for every hour I work.

@a5 word on the street is that they are now going to require 8 hours/day on site. Whatever happened to flexibility?

I'm in.

I'm being told I need to come into the office because productivity and culture, and then I'm being replaced by soulless AI and offshore contractors.

Make it make sense.

That would never happen. 3Mers are too much like sheep to stand up for themselves. It is a true shame because there are a lot of awesome hard working people at 3M and they are being disrespected by a management team of goons and thugs.
