Ever notice how some posts, or entire discussion threads, just randomly disappear? I think it's Dell management (probably JC) who likes to keep tabs on what employees are saying about how shiiity Dell is managed. They delete posts that point to their incompetence and greed.

If Dell managers, leaders, HR, or whomever can manipulate which posts they want removed (with money) because it hurt their feelings or told the truth, then BY DEFINITION Dell is managing the site.
TheLayoff.com says it has been operating since January 31, 2009.
Its legal name is reported as TheLayoff.com Inc. and its business location is reported as Houston, Texas. Crunchbase lists it as privately owned, but its founder information is obscured rather than named.
The current WHOIS record for the domain shows Cloudflare as registrar, with the registrant's name and organization redacted. The only geographic information exposed is New York, US.
Historical WHOIS information also shows that the owner deliberately used a privacy service—previously Contact Privacy Inc.—so the historical records don't expose the underlying person either.
The site's own privacy policy says the company operates the forum and that it maintains user anonymity; it also says it can disclose log information when compelled by a subpoena, warrant, court order, etc.
@17m Sorry, it's based IN Canada. Whoever created this site is a genius though because it's basically a "randsomware" type of situation for the companies who are on here. Take Dell for example... They don't run the site, have access to admin rights or have any say on what is/isn't removed. The site owner however holds 100% of the power.
Oh, you want this post removed because it's divulging an NDA project? I'll remove it for 2 thousand bucks RIGHT NOW! The post/comment that is talking about an unreleased product? Yeah bro... I can remove that for 5k.
Dell, or any company isn't running this site.
the site is registered out of canada but who actually RUNS it? who tf knows
@sq Nice try JC.
OMG, it’s like none of you ever use discussion boards or socials.
Of course they can’t manage this site. If they could, the far more damaging posts would’ve been gone, and we wouldn’t have had all those leaks over the past few years- some even picked up by mainstream media.
Dell can’t control what gets posted here, or on Glassdoor, Reddit, Blind, Facebook, customer review sites, etc. Dell isn’t in bed with those sites, nor are those sites run by any foreign powers (they’re all based here and operate under our laws), but that doesn’t mean Dell isn’t watching. Like any company, they’ll monitor socials and try to contain bad PR.
That’s why you should always be mindful of how you word your post or review and not give them any legitimate reason to get it taken down.
Reporting posts and reviews for ToS or legal violations is one of the oldest tricks in the book. If there’s actually a violation, the host may have to take it down.
But if it’s simply harsh criticism/review/leak with no PII/doxxing, threats, profanities, or other violations, they can complain all they want, the post will stay up. That’s how we’ve been getting all those leaks for more than a decade here and on blind (or at least that’s how long I’ve been using both.)
If Dell management can simply send an email or pay someone in India, or wherever, to delete a post that hurts their feelings, then by definition Dell Manages this site.
no not dell. The site is literally the first result when you type in 'layoff', so it's just people clicking on it randomly. I don’t think it’s a clique either, the posts are way too diverse for that. It's basically just a dumping ground for pointless posts.
The Dell social media team is clearly present on this site. Whenever they spot a post that defames someone, it gets removed immediately. They are also tasked with creating posts to boost Dell's stock value and project a positive brand image.
Here is how it works: they use a search tool to scan the web—including this site—for specific keywords, reviewing the results every morning. While they started out as a tech support group, their strategy shifted a few years ago. Now, they drop strategic posts and let word-of-mouth do the rest.
Beyond social media, I believe upper management actively monitors this site, along with global sales reps, finance, marketing, tech support, dev teams, and the Federal team. The entire Dell community is represented here, and the overall sentiment is far from positive. I hope leadership reads these comments and accepts constructive feedback, but I doubt they will. Multiple emails sent to JC and other executives have gone unanswered. At the end of the day, Dell's sole focus right now is making money, no matter what.
Not Dell.
