I've had bosses I loved and bosses I couldn't stand in my 20-year career, but I never dealt with so many bad ones in such a short stretch. Most of them somehow ended up during my current four years at Synopsys. Not a single positive experience with a manager since I joined.

@10e Most IC converted managers are cancers to the company. They have technical skills, but they lack people skills.
The managers at my team were constantly thinking only of their own self-preservation; they took credit for their subordinates’ achievements and, whenever things didn’t go their way, shifted the blame onto their subordinates. Severe workplace harassment was rampant.
Despite the fact that the company hadn’t produced a single achievement worthy of recognition over the past years, the director and managers were fiercely protected. They forced all subordinates they disliked to resign or were transferred to other locations.
However, the powerful figures who had been backing them are all gone now. Next, it’s their turn to be fired. The time has come for them to pay the price for doing whatever they wanted all this time.
There are no managers at SNPS.
Only individual contributors who are promoted to manager.
They want resources to do tasks they don't want to do.
They don't care to your career.
And ultimately they will take benefit of your job done for their own career.
