Seriously considering telling Fido that I literally CANNOT absorb the extra financial cost of commuting to work every day when gas is projected to hit $6/gal. Is anyone else concerned about this? Sure, it’s fine if you live within a few miles but my commute is over an hour combined. How is this okay with Abby and why is no one doing anything about it?

@131 you cut spotify, apple music all other unnecessary subscriptions that you have. That's where the money leak really is.
@122 Right, right I hadn’t thought of that. Which would you prefer? Groceries, utilities, car payment or housing? Looking at the options, wanting to save money on gas doesn’t seem so childish now, does it? D-mba55.
You are just going to have to cut spending somewhere else!! Grow the F up!!
The HR requirement is only 50%, my friend.
@b9 and? You roll the dice when making a decision like that. Doesn't always work out. That's life
Look. It su-ks. Yes you’re taking a pay cut, but if you think any company cares about your financial situation… I have some ocean front property in Iowa to sell you. You’re a number is a system, not a person.
@d7 I think you're just whining over nothing actually. It is what it is...will you voluntarily take a pay cut when gas goes back down to 2 dollars a gallon. Works both ways. It's life....just live it.
only few locations are made to pay for RTO others are anyways enjoying life
@cv you are not comparing apples to apples here. Gas was $2/gal during Covid; regardless if I was traveling or not. This shouldn’t justify the cost of having to spend three times as much.
wouldn't you have saved money during the covid time as you did not have to commute to work. Covid was great from a saving money prospect. No going out to eat, no commute, frivolous spending was down. Now you're complaining.
@ac also the extra money for childcare etc during Covid - so sick of the whining. Your employer is not your parents. Gas prices are up and down all the time. When interest rates were 15% in the 80s employers didn't automatically give you a raise because it cost alot for a mortgage. People complaining about this are probably the same ones who ask for a raise because their kid is going to college or they want to move to a bigger house
@ac yes I literally took a pay cut to work at Fidelity instead of elsewhere because of the dynamic working.
So you’re telling me $6 gallon gas isn’t worth the synergy you could have with your coworkers and the energizing collisions you could engage people at the water cooler and the communal bonding when you wait for the fat old guys to finish po----g for 30 mins so you can finally use the bathroom?
@ac was gas $6 per gallon and everything else substantially lower in price when we started to WFH, you absolute potato?
Did any of you RTO whiners take a pay cut over the last few years to WFH?
No, I didn't think so.
They should be paying more, or at least offering pay increases to keep up with inflation but they're not. They should be adding or at least maintaining benefits, but they're doing the opposite. If your commute is bad and the employment deal you made with Fidelity (your time and skills for their $) no longer makes sense for you then it's time to consider leaving for another employment opportunity. Just like they can lay you off you have the power to do the same. It su-ks and it's not right but they've got a business to run and be profitable and they're showing you what you're worth to them...take it or leave it.
