We’re 5x back in office since Sep 1. How’s it going? My manager just reminded me about attendance’ - he’s remote btw!
I hate going into the office but not landed a remote role yet despite interviewing. So, my act of defiance is coffee badging and maybe spending 1-2 hours about twice a week for ‘visibility’.
There’s zero in-person collaboration or meetings. So much for ‘culture’!

@OP if you want to play a game of fk around and find out, go for it but trust me when I tell you, coffee badging is monitored and accompanied by progressive discipline. When they do the WFR, they’ll send you away with “cause”. Does RTOx 5 su-k? Yes. Does unemployment su-k more? Also yes.
@mm yes HR discuss with your line manager and manager either says it's ok or not ok . Doesn't go any higher than that

@a3 be careful. This has moved to full on tracking. Your manager does not have the option to say it's okay. Non-Compliance is going to be part of upcoming wfrs. If your manager truly agrees to this, you need to take it up the line to get official approval. There's a process for th17at.
@cn And they're rumors that the building itself won't have enough capacity for the people they want to put in there, along with private offices. So the people will be crammed in, making it an even more hellish environment for everyone involved
@OP I am following but I would be more productive if I wasn’t forced back. My commute is on average 1 hour to and 1 hour from the office. I work on a team of five and the other four don’t work at my office. Our meetings are on Teams and the majority of colleagues I interface with are either remote or in a different office.
Imagine instead of spending 22,000,000 on a new building , had they just put that into salaries. .every employee would have had a nice 1000 bump. While not big on the Americas, it would have had a sizable impact for employees in Asia
It's a joke..none of the ELT are working in RTO mode. It's the new CHROs per project. Every ELT needs their stamp on some new initiative to say "here's this awesome new shiny thing. I launched it and made it happen".

You're pretty much describing the 3x and 4x mandate RTO and the office. Sad people playing on their phones and going home by lunchtime, never to be heard from again until the next day.
And let's not forget that, yes, they don't have enough room to cover all the virtual people they're also forcing back in the office, so they had to buy an entire new building. Anything but giving people raises

Pretty much feel like I'm dying. Office is extremely depressing. Teams are so small that there's no one to collaborate with in the office except for ghosts. Spend a large portion of my time in the office crying. No relief possible. Too much work from laid off coworkers.

Sadly management has made coffee ba----g impossible with micromanagement, so as a non smoker im instead fully utilising a LOT of smoke breaks during the day. Doing my shopping, going to the cafe, going to a bookshop, long lunch, wash the car, go to appointments, anything and everything. Combine that with dropping my productivity as much as humanly possible, stopped picking up any extra work. Doing my part to make sure the productivity metrics hit an all time low with RTO in effect. To anybody reading this, this company is actively trying to make you quit. Quiet quitting is an option, but is not enough. You need to actively return the favour and give the same treatment back.
I've dropped my productivity even further to try and restore some balance. Happy to work remote or just fill a seat in-office.

Our RTO doesn’t have enough rooms to have private meetings my manager said it’s ok just do it from home….. lol
