I've gotten to the point where nearly any other job sounds appealing. I'd stock shelves overnight, work a reception desk, or spend eight hours answering customer complaints if it meant leaving this place. None of those sound particularly exciting, but I'd still take them. That's how badly I want out of here.

My current company made the mistake of hiring from a few big oil companies in the Houston area. All of the hires claimed decades of experience, institutional knowledge, etc.
We put them in lead/management roles only to find out that they didn’t know how to activate software licenses, set a meeting agenda, create a hyperlink, or read an email (I’m not kidding). These are basic white-collar job skills.
We’re still trying to figure out how to get rid of these people. For those of you who want to know why it takes three months and seven interviews to get a job…this is why.
My trick is to treat the job as a contract job that requires annual renewal. You will feel much better that way
It is best to have one year of salary in your checking/savings account or money market so that you can leave on your own accord with 12 months of cash reserve to find another job.
@OP, I'm with you! I've been really scrimping lately, saving money & getting ready to bail as soon as possible.

Amen OP. I have calculated how much money I need to pay my bills and am applying for a range of jobs based on quality of life not necessary how much they pay. I am willing to take a big pay cut to get away from this place. That is how bad it has gotten. I am tired of hating life every waking hour and on the weekends.
