It’s funny how the primary task of a “technology” manager or “senior” manager is to monitor and manage the attendance of other adults. It’s like being in school and the teacher marking attendance of all the kids. Except the kids here are 40 year olds. Directors senior directors and VPs doing the same, asking devs to update some values in excel files, database columns and loosely using the term “AI” to appear current. All while half their team members are sitting remote, not attending meetings, and always appearing away. How about you manage their “attendance” ?

Fire every remote employee if RTO is the mandate.
It’s unjust to treat in office workers one way and remote employees another way
@OP I suspect many FTEs take leaves and never apply coz of the their managers blessings. They go for 2 to 3 long vacations every year..do they get so many paid leaves?
Don’t forget the people getting “exceptions” despite never going through Sedgewick for a formal workplace exception causing managers to have to explain why people need to be in higher attendance in the office to make percentages. We had a flex policy before Covid that worked fine. But we can’t return to that because instead of getting approvals for how we manage our teams we have to meet some arbitrary attendance percentages. It’s pretty silly and pointless.
I guess you’re either a 40 year old child whose attendance needs to be managed. Or you’re a “senior” manager who makes 200k by marking attendance of other adults.
