Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Leadership Development Program is ending

Can’t say I’m surprised. LDP quality has gone downhill so much that the businesses are taking development into their own hands

@r8 of course the pension is next, ML is not d-mb, he is here to show results and produce shareholder return.

There is a reason none of the other laughable Operating Council was tagged as the next CEO, they have all shown they can’t do it, so someone from the outside had to be brought in.

Until the source is at least loosely named, this is a rumor. This is a 50+ year old program that isn't tied to one set of leaders or current program managers.

The bigger issue here is that if this is true, and they will cut this program with such a deep history, the pension is next.

Like 2nd from this said, is this a rumor or fact? LDP "ended" but is still here as "TD&O" program.

Most LDP graduates leave after their defined period in which they must stay anyway. So the bank is paying for these “leaders” to be developed for other companies anyway.

I finished the LDP recently. One of the more flamboyant gentleman leading it said we need to equip you to learn to combat bad things your teammates do like FMLA and laughed. It brought into immediate remembrance the lawsuit on our leadership institute for it depriving of work life balance. I never fully understood the lawsuit until I went through the program. One of the leaders in the LDP knew what was up. He said he thought it would be a good job to come here, but in all honesty he said it’s not his best job. We were discussing a time of set backs. Obviously I’m not going to share names because there’s supposed to be confidentiality in these meetings. One of the seasoned LDP leaders laughingly said he can’t wait for a new ceo too, when a student leader mentioned it. You can really feel the institutional fatigue here because even our LDP program is griping in front of leadership.

If true, no one will miss it. I went through a program and it quickly became clear that those who manage and facilitate it barely bother.

Communication from staff is poor (it once took our facilitator two weeks to respond to an email) and program materials are woefully outdated. I counted 14 dead links in one self-guided portion that are otherwise useless essential to its completion.

There is no real benefit to even participating other than leadership allowing peons to believe they’re doing something for their career, so glad to hear this ruse might be over.

No great loss if true. BB is an example of the BBT product. I once was being recruited for a job and the prospective company ask through the recruiter if I was LDP. He stated they wanted nothing to do with LDPers.

Rumor or fact? Post your details on how you know this.

We have way too much leadership at Truist already. We need to thin the herd significantly, before we even think about developing any more.
