The people at the top seem to get away with almost anything while toxic behavior is allowed to continue. You can actually see the environment changing people who used to care, as they become bitter and completely checked out. That's the part that scares me because once that attitude spreads, it's really hard to turn things around.

If you need the job then do just enough to get fired. Even more important, be easy to manage and your boss will forgive your other mistakes. Remember 8 & Skate, It can wait.
When you finally realize this is not your company (doesn’t matter how many years you have or what you do), this is a job, the people at the top don’t care, so neither should you. Just smile and wave. Do what’s asked, don’t ki-l yourself to do it (it won’t be rewarded if you do) and to he-l with the rest. Build something for yourself and a life outside of here. Volunteer somewhere you can make a difference, build your own business, get a hobby you love, focus on your family and friends. Punch the clock and go home. There isn’t any reward for putting in a billion hours a week or saving the company an extra $100k, there won’t be any big bonus or promotion or even a good job. They don’t care, nobody does anymore just people that have nothing else than this place. Just do your job and go home. This is a paycheck nothing more.
It makes for lively happy hours, that's for sure.
