Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Is Proxxima another Lie?

I keep hearing Proxxima is supposed to be this big thing but no one is buying it. Did someone lie to get a promotion again?

Is this the next algae? Or Yoshi fuel delivery?

@d7 I heard we can’t even force anyone to use Proxxima. Has anyone bought it?

Employees dont last. Many have quit, retired, or fired. It is a revolving door of sheet. It is a doomed product.

Yes proxxima is a very rotten apple - everyone knows this. It continues to be pushed as a golden opportunity

Ridiculous sales targets that are missed and pushed out every year.

Technology issues that cannot be solved.

No one wants this product - high switching costs and single source supply.

Big problems with applications just ignored - you can’t bend the rebar!!! For example.

China controls the majority of the feedstock

It stinks (literally)

Who signed off on proxxima, China 1, or yoshi. These people have cost the company more money than 10,000 employees they cut.

And it’s crazy to think that executive got compensated on that failed project what takes an average employee of lifetime to earn.

Being pushed super hard for pipe insulation. Existing products are cheaper for more application. If it's the golden product it should sell itself but none of the epcs are buying unless forced.

Proxxima seems like the company put a ton of $ into developing a product without a market. It's looking like a massive failure.

@cq Tough to sell something that is more expensive than the alternatives and offers no added benefit.

It’s made from a moderately poisonous waste product, and has dubious capabilities that are yet to be capitalizable.

If Proxxima is so great why does no one want to buy and use it? Too expensive. Cheaper alternatives are just as good.

Someone cooked the books and oversold it. That seems clear.

There is multiple "me too" Proxima's on the market today. It is all about "Marketing" and "Price" in the thermoset resin industry.

Equivalent or Similar Technologies
While Proxxima™ is proprietary, several other resin systems and technologies share similar performance profiles:

Materia Proxima® Resins – A high-performance thermoset resin family from Materia, also based on DCPD/norbornene monomers and Grubbs Catalyst® technology. They combine high-temperature stability with high impact toughness, tunable process windows, and compatibility with high filler loading

Applications: subsea insulation, downhole tools, high-speed electronics, advanced composites.

Similarities: low viscosity, high filler tolerance, hydrophobicity, corrosion resistance.

Advanced Epoxy Systems – Certain cycloaliphatic epoxies (e.g., ERL 4221) and rubber-toughened epoxies offer high temperature and mechanical performance, but generally have higher viscosity and less hydrophobicity than Proxxima™

Cyanate Ester Resins – Used in high-temperature composites, they provide stiffness and flame re--rdancy but are less hydrophobic and not as low-viscosity as Proxxima™

Other Polyolefin Thermosets – Some polyolefin-based thermosets from other chemical suppliers may match Proxxima™ in toughness and low viscosity, but proprietary catalyst systems and monomer blends are key differentiators.

@af There is something wrong with Proxxima. Too many people working in it. Too much pressure to find use cases. If the market wanted it someone would have bought it by now.

Algae (20kbd bio diesel by 2025), doubling earning by 2026 ( announced in 2018, DAC, Investor relation runs on lies and propaganda, Proxxima can’t be any different.
