Is restructuring still happening in Medtronic ?

It seems every quarter Medtronic is going through another massive restructure. How are we supposed to keep up when entire teams are being made redundant or individuals just get fed up and quit?

The last quarter has been awful. I'm doing the work of four people. I'm stressed and stretched thin. My own manager up and left without warning. She just decided not to come in, hand in her notice and take all her holidays.

She text me today (after a month) saying she is working for a competitor, she is happy and I should do the same.

I'm so upset. I am left with so much work. A new line manager who has no clinical background - only sales.

I am not sure what to do. The workload is piling up. I'm working overtime just to meet deadlines. If I mention anything - my manager is like well everyone is on the same boat.

Surely this can't be the strategy moving forwards? Then I see weird promotions for people who actually don't do any impactful work..

How is this.fair?.

They just hired another fat woman with a bun on her head to lead interventional cardiology. Is this company high? Do they know that her background doesn’t even qualify her to run a bodega?

@OP That su-ks and is, at the same time, typical. You need to demand more of your manager. Managers at MDT are people managers, not IC's. Thier entire job it to unblock you.

If you are not getting what you need then level jump and speak to the Director

That su-ks. Opposite of my last 4 years at MDT. I begged for more work, and made my own work optimizing software and internal sites and ordering systems. My manager said I was exceeding expectations for years when I was hardly putting in 15 hours some weeks.

It was annoying but I was able to start and manage two personal business ventures while employed full time at MDT.

Kinda cr-ppy of your ex manager to do that to you. You shouldn't take it personally. I guess they had to do what's best for them.

Have you considered going to a competitor? I'm thinking you like your job that's why you want to stay.

Keep your skills and CV updated. Mdt is always making people redundant. If you end up on the axe side - at least you have a head start.
