VOE Week: Tell Us How You Feel (We’ll Track Where You Sit)

Yesterday the VOE survey landed - honestly, you have to applaud the impeccable timing of these geniuses trying to double down on RTO with 3 days / 8-hour metrics.
What is this, high school?
As long as we’re delivering on objectives, why on earth should anyone be measuring hours like this? I’m perfectly fine with going to the office three times a week.
I’m not advocating for badge-swipe-only behavior, but if someone needs to leave after lunch or a 1 or 2 of hours early and then continue working remotely, especially those of us with families, why should that be penalized?
All this is going to achieve is pushing people into strict “bare-minimun” mode and accelerating quiet quitting across the bank.

@1a6

I've always told people, people retain and maintain 70% or more the person they were in High School and elementary school.

People's personalities, behaviours, values and beliefs do Not change that much over time.

The losers and bullies in High School are still losers and bullies today.

The snobs, princes and princesses in High School are still snobs, princes and princesses today, etc..

A few times in my career I realized or found out that certain High School As$Holes and MotherFvckers were working in the same companies I was working for, including at Citi.

I asked around about their personalities, behaviours, management style etc..

Sure enough, the High School As$Holes and MotherFvckers are Still As$Holes and MotherFvckers.

Also, the Backstabbing Snakes 🐍often become LCSW Social Workers or Psychologists. Very dangerous and scary when the bullies and Snakes are the ones probing other people's minds and doling out BullSh!t "advice"!

Managers asking for seating chart in an office where no permanent seating allegedly exists. When you see the horse stalls and windows behind us you know we are in office. Private side employees segregated from everyone else, trapped in a small, cramped, loud area...hard to concentrate.

High school is exactly what it is. Friends take care of friends. Not acting in the best interest of the company that's for sure. The powers that be have absolutely no clue. Manage through fear and intimidation. Layoffs and the fear of getting cut. So toxic.

@cr A former manager of mine at another company had a response to his peers who complained he left at 5pm daily " If you were as smart as me, you could leave on time as well". Let's face it, some days there may not be 8 hours worth of work and some days not enough hours in the day. It evens out in the end. I'm going my work and not watching hour many hours someone else is working. It's their managers job to ensure work is being done.

The only acceptable answer to any of the Free Text Boxes-Fields on the VOE should be "GO TO www.thelayoff.com to read Citibank employees' true feelings and sentiments about Citibank because your employees do NOT trust the VOE. GET your FREE VOE."

@cr You’re just bad at your job/have too much on your plate if you can’t create buffer in your day. Learn to play the game and stop clawing at the other peasants.

@cr stop worrying about what other people who don’t report to you do or don’t do. That’s not your responsibility and everyone has their own circumstances which you don’t know about

@aa the problem with leaving early is people don't go home and finish the 8 hrs at home. People on my team come in late , leave early, plus take an hr lunch mid day. They work 6 hrs at most. Then others work 8 hrs, even if they leave on their lunch break, they sign back in and finish the day at home .

@aa I joined Citi in 2015. Within 6 weeks of employment I was working 3 days at home and 2 days in office - usually full days with exceptions when needed. That stayed the case until Covid when we all went full remote. These current expectations are more restrictive than pre-COVID days. It is what it is - I’m still thankful it’s not fully in office but it’s not accurate to say it was more restrictive pre-COVID as a way to describe these complaints as unreasonable.

Prior to Covid teams would come 4-5 in office, work 8 hour days. That was the expectation. I’m all for flexibility, if people want to come early and leave earlier or if schedule has to shift here and there. But always leaving early, not coming in 3 days a week is not ok when this is the standard at other places. JPM had us go in 5 days a week, 8 hours a day!

I’m flexible with my team, but the expectation some people have is out of this world, most companies expect you in seat 5 days a week. That’s the real world

@OP

Ask Mr. HR-RTO.

The same Troll poster who always defends Citi's RTO mandate with the same BullSh!t excuses.

Wait for him to jump on your thread ASAP !

Citi wants its employees to do or work the Bare Minimum, NOT do extra work, Withhold solutions and ideas, certainly NOT volunteer for projects.

This will keep Citi at the bottom of the bank rankings, as usual and normal. LOL!
