Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Why is upward mobility nonexistent?

Why do we keep hiring from the outside instead of promoting people who've been here for years and earned it many times over?

@16e " a CEO with fresh ideas and plans for growth"

You mean like former "rock star" CEO Czarly?

I still remember when she came to the Fort Collins campus. She had a visible security detail.

Because when we pick from the limited pool internally, we get people like Antonio vs. a CEO with fresh ideas and plans for growth vs current management riding the 'flavor of the week' IT technology which we get from Antonio

I don't think it is the same in every organization. For example, the group I worked in had no change in leadership all the way up through the director level in well over a decade. I'm not saying even if those people went on to do other things it would have created much opportunity in that organization, but it does say something about how stagnent things are.

toni is adopting the path that is happening across the industry. The system is about female leadership because women selectively recruit other women to safeguard the organizational system, culture, and management style they favour, and it’s not the way bill and dave visualized

You probably won't like the answer:

It's to keep low balling your salary and to have no obligations to give you a raise after promotions... so they won't promote you. You'll get WFR'd then replace you with a lower grade employee from the outside.

Hiring from the outside = cheaper because they won't know the salary range. So they'll low ball them on salary as well... and then they'll WFR that person and hire yet another outsider.

It's a perpetual cycle of company savings!

There are a million other people who can kindly do the needful for cheap. Of course, they will be gone in a year too.

To maximize shareholder profits. Corporations do not exist to provide employees with the means to provide for themselves and their families. They exist to exploit labor to squeeze out as much profits as they can to the delight of the shareholders.
