@nd agreed on all points. I've seen the careful use of AI by capable people do some really good work. Sadly, I've seen more use of it by the worst, and it makes a mess. It's ironic that the worst contractors we're locked in with use it most frequently, and make an even bigger mess than they would have otherwise. The company is paying for tools being misused by cheap labor to create a net negative. It's just all so exhausting.
@ke Geniuses singed a 5 year old contract, just when AI started getting better. AI is so good we don’t need cheap labor to do these tasks. Though I still don’t think they realize this yet.
Talented people leveraging AI get so much more done. Mediocre people using AI can get magnified too, but they don’t know when things are going off the rails.
Good luck if true. However, id suspect that someone who's been able to do anything correctly in such a long career would have had to have come to understand that there's a balance between cost and value. If the TechM people are any indicator, doing anything kind of mass replacement would be an unmitigated disaster. Not only from the quality of work, but also from the loss of any real talent who get sick of babysitting and cleaning up the messes created.
@cx his source is Brittain Ladd, just regurgitating the article from LinkedIn last month. The KCC can’t get any momentum and has had 3 leaders in 3 mos…typical Kroger time clock, what takes a normal company 2 years will take us 20.
That would be 1/5 of the corporate jobs, don’t see how that is possible or even makes good business sense so I’m not buying it
