Hey I remember your old post!
Layoff is completed on Monday 8/31. But folks in CA are kept on payroll until 10/31 as per WARN. They need to give employees 60 days notice or just pay them off. In this case they were paid 60 days as part of their severance package.
Always do the needful. Where have I heard that?
