We had an urgent meeting announcing Don Langer left his position today. We weren't told why he left, but he's been with UHC/Optum/UHG for 30+ years and 15 years as our CEO I think.
What do we know?

We want him back. I dont believe he would have allowed this to happen if he was there. Its the wenches on the national team that decided this. They're securing their upcoming holiday bonuses while the rest of us hope we don't get any more percentage shaved off our company match, or higher insurance premiums, no bonuses, and meager raises, if any? What are we doing here?

I was sad to hear he left so abruptly. I thought he was well-liked, and to be with the company that many years with no formal announcement is worrisome.

His strength was politicking and maintain a very close relationship with the state. He believed that the underwriting cycle would always come back to favor UHC, so he never put much thought around financial controls
