"I got an exceeds four times" means you had a manager that set you up for failure. Maybe a former high school teacher that liked to give everyone A+s. It doesnt make you a good employee. It makes you a pet.

I don't know how many times we can say it but f* this f** place. And in a just world Charlie, Bridget, Tracy, and all the rest would never be allowed to lead anything.

Employment is an agreement. If you do x they pay y. If you do x plus 10 and still only get y you need to stop. This is banking. They only care about money and if you give more than you get they won’t respect you.

@db the bank has had layoffs every other week for six years. Ignorance at this point is pathetic.

We knew someone who ended up passing away (cancer) get laid off while on medical leave. Absolutely a heartless move.

@dm i had exceeds rating fours years in a row in my first four years here. Then got meets after getting new manager because she wanted to stay off radar with her exec (she told me this herself), she still managed to get laid off.

Nobody always gets an exceeds. If you get one its for a single year only and then it rotates to someone else the next year. She may have gotten an exceeds at some point but every year isnt happening for anyone.

@OP Your friend would be considered by many who post here to be a bootlicker. Now that she is laid off they think she is a saint, unfairly laid off.

@OP Loyal employees getting laid off? Shocking isn’t it? This has been going on for years. My father and grandfather got laid off after years of loyal service. My grandfather lost his pension too when the company shut down. Never think you’re not going to be laid off if you work hard and give up your PTO. I hope she had money saved.

Get a job in sales. I work in the branch as a banker and make 200k and get rewarded pretty handsomely for working hard.

Yep. That is why I work exactly 8 hours every day and don't "go above and beyond". They pay me to do a full-time job. I do it. End of story.

Just to clarify-- they can notify you that your job/position is gone while on leave. The difference is your notice period and last day begins upon return from leave. The manager prep kit HR provides literally has multiple scenarios (person on PTO, person on leave, etc). Being on leave is not a shield.

Hard work and loyalty may have worked in the 1950's, but things are much different now. Staff with good connections that are pushovers usually get the promotions and raises.

There is a place in he-l for these people. Slimiest of sl--e.

They don't give a hoot if you consistently had Meets (with even a mid-year Exceeds thrown in) and were the only one on your team who went after industry certifications year after year. They will find a reason to get rid of you. #CertHo

@a4 they can't let you go if you are medical leave. But, as soon as you're released they can.
