@f3 you really should bring all your dollars back to the same year to compare. $60,000 in 2006 is the equivalent of $98,412 in January 2026. Your $260,000 in January 2026 has the same buying power as $158,517 in 2006. So you have gone up less than $100,000 in 20 years or $5,000 in real buying power per year.

Went from something like $60k to about $260k over about 20 years. So $10k/yr on average. Some were zeros, some were around $20k I guess, but that’s been the long term average. Recognizing that the market influences a lot of that (US engineers don’t start at 60k any more). I’m not getting raises anywhere close to that recently. Nearly maxed out on my CLs, ranking came back down into middle, and will be getting mid-tier raises from here on out.

@e4 and therein lies the issue. Sure you had a big one time raise but when you average raises over your entire career the percentage is much much smaller

@ap same, 19% for Outstanding plus a promo but this happened the year after COVID which included the previous year’s 401k match freeze and no raises.

13.5 % in 1998 - RGP 93% (equivalent to OWD these days) and included a CL promotion. Thought that was really the max in countries with normal inflation.

With out without RSU? Biggest was 35%, a doble level promotion.
Note: EXecutive raises can be 25 to 40% once RSU are accounted for and base can be 15 to 20%.

The little people usually max at 15% these days, if OWD steadily over 2 to 3 years and not yet promoted to next level

occasionally someone who was ranked lower and zoom up to OWD and get a promo can get above 20% for several years in a row as they get you to the new rank group and CL pay over several years

Almost 24% which was $14 an hour. That was the salary adjustment in July of 2024. I received around a 20% raise years ago for a promotion. The last two years my raises have been terrible even though I ranked outstanding.

I have had some big ones but you are looking at the wrong metric. What good does it do if a couple of times in the past 20 years I have had big raises and the other years the raises have been mediocre or zero? You need to look at the long term trend and current trend. Clearly we are in a cost cutting mode right now and employee compensation is continuing to be reduced in all ways possible. In addition there is a clear push to offshore jobs and to force out those in their late 40 or older age. Look at the situation in its entirety not just one good raise. I promise you it won’t last. Waiting 7 years for your RSU to vest is also pretty wishful thinking considering the push to destaff the USA.
