@d0 Executive management is above board and beyond reproach. Most notably, Ed Zoiss. Everyone should follow his example and learn from his vast management experience.

Everyone on the list they gave me was over 40 (1 at 41 the rest 50+)

@cr Same thing that they did in the layoffs last year. You get a list of all who (ages-titles). Do the math and it puts them out of the danger zone. They also know how to play the numbers to not have to adhere to the WARN act.

It wasn’t just older employees who were let go yesterday. I was let go (contracts, over 40) and a software engineer who was in his early 20s and with company for maybe 2 years.

@cr Problem is the dead weight is still there, and getting away with it! They've lost much experience which will eventually catch up!

It wasnt all old people but they definitely targeted a bunch of older people close to retirement age at Malabar and Palm Bay.

@a2 They are supposed to provide you with a list and demographic breakdown. They did it when I was whacked. I know it is hard but they are doing a favor. It is an acknowledgement that the merger and Rocketdyne acquisition were colossal failures

@a2 I had seen one of these lists for a prior L3H layoff, so they do distribute them. Not sure how one gets a copy.

If you were laid off and older than say 40, they should provide you with an anonymized list of people's age who were laid off at your site and their approximate role.

My last employer did this, not sure if it's a labor law or it was to get ahead of any age discrimination law suit. Regardless, it was a pretty normal distribution for my RIF, and the ages and roles matched up with who I knew got let go.

It's tough to litigate even if you have a skewed distribution. They can always come up with some excuse as to why a protected group seems singled out for pink slips.
