Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Survey opens Sept 15. You in or out?

Already being pushed to do it so let’s do a survey of our own.

Will you do it? Yes/no
If yes, will you give happy talk BS to placate them, tear them a new one or something in between?

“Retired Manager here...Do Not Think that the survey is anonymous....I knew who said what...always”

Active manager here, 30 years.

You never saw a UID attached to a specific survey , and you never saw a list of UIDs showing specifically who did and who didn’t take it. So stop lying .

Now that said, if you know your people, sure you can confidently attribute specific language in the comments to specific people on your team. That’s not the same thing.

@jv that’s because you worked and communicated with your employees daily and they LOVE to complain about the same thing ALL the time.

Use AI so your responses don’t give away your identity.

And stop being so repetitive with complaints. You rat yourself out!

Nope. The lack of
Participation sends the biggest message. Don’t complete it. They can’t make you even though your boss will say it’s mandatory.

Corey Anthony last year during a town hall: “We read all of your responses. Nothing’s changing (smirk).”

@am Riiiiight…. Because nothing says “we hear your feedback and respect it” like slashing the bonus because of survey feedback. That will surely help to improve the non-existent culture and rock bottom morale. Market-based I guess!

@am that’s not how this works. Don’t be fooled.

Already been advised by director that poor participation will damage bonus payout and poor results will as well. They are basically blackmailing us into doing the survey and giving good results so the board thinks everything is just great. Fine..I’ll lie to get paid

If you're talking about a company using a market-oriented / results-driven culture framework (often contrasted with clan, adhocracy, and hierarchy cultures), then low employee-survey scores can actually be interpreted differently than they would be in a people-oriented culture.

Speculation - “Does being classified as market-based change the weighting, target, benchmark, or applicability of the employee survey metric used to determine executive compensation?”

If the answer is yes, then your hypothesis becomes much more concrete: leadership could potentially have an incentive to push for that classification precisely when employee sentiment is deteriorating.

It’s sends more of a message to NOT take the survey.

The lack of participation is what ki-ls them. You could tell them everything is wrong and they will tell you-

“We heard you! You want less chairs because it promotes more physical fitness at work”

But when there is a lack of participation, that’s a lack of engagement. A disengaged workforce is the hallmark of a poorly run company and sign of culture problems.

They were more concerned on the last survey about participation levels than by what we wrote.

If your boss is ‘forcing’ you to take the survey so their numbers look good, provide all negative feedback and in the fill-in-the-blank portion state: ‘I work in a culture where employees feel pressured to participate in a survey that is supposed to be anonymous and voluntary. This undermines the credibility of the survey and makes employees less likely to provide honest feedback.’”

I plan to use the exact same answers as last survey. Including the open ended answer where I blasted them. The goal is less participation and worse results than last time. This is gonna be hilarious!

Out. They can review prior surveys, as the feedback is unlikely to be different.

I’ve taken my last survey for the company. The damage done by stinks 8/1/25 email can never be undone. F-U, John.

I'd participate but IDGAF either.

5x8 work week.

Don't like me? Give me the pink slip so I can collect unemployment as a nice retirement bonus.

Never again. Several officer level people outright said they don't care about the results. I read or heard at least three.
