Thread regarding HCA Holdings Inc. layoffs

HCA motto - Caring for the Community. Is that the local community where corporate and hospitals are - or India? How does firing Americans help the communities we live in. I work at HCA and now have to deal with more and more communication issues to get simple things done- submit a ticket and wait to “have my teammate read it” or “ contact so and so- the only english speaking person left to tell them what they need to do since they can’t decipher a simple email etc. frustrating for me and a waste of work time. How it saves money for HCA is beyond me.

I know firsthand that at least 80% of the staff in each department are being targeted for reduction.

I know that the CTO and his group are working on using AI to reduce staffing further. They call it your digital twin, but it's really your digital replacement.

I also learned that the CIO and other senior leaders need round-the-clock protection.

I joined HCA almost about 5 months back. One very weird thing that I noticed is that: you can look from one group to other (basically under one avp vs another avp): in one case almost more than 90% are Indians and in the other almost 90% (Asian or us born asian). Is this pattern in every company or it is HCA's thing. No one paying any attention. Really they need to shuffle things. So racially isolated groups

@ag That's simply an excuse. Their revenue to expense is up. They aren't drowning such that selling us down the river is at all necessary.

@ag The government should definitely penalize companies for this. More and more are doing it. The fact that they do less contractual offshoring and just setup shop over there shows that they know they can get away with it. But no one cares. In fact, I would think this administration would encourage it and join in.

I heard they were already having trouble filling the roles in India from the last round of layoffs and that the turnover rate was through the roof. They have no idea what they're doing.

Honestly, the financial issues could be easily resolved by sending Sam Hazen’s job to India.

There will be seven rounds of layoffs, and this is round three. Fifty percent of my department was laid off today, with their last day being 1/8. The part of the company I work for handles a lot of PII/PHI, and GCN will eventually have control over all of it.

@OP there probably was two subsequent calls. one happened at 8.45 am to 9.00 am. Was told some positions were impacted due to financial resiliency coming from medicare and uninsured costs and other due to global capability network (GCN) , basically lots of hiring in India.

So guys keep doing your f**king KT sessions, train them and dig your own hole. Unless some blunder happens or some PHI goes off ramp in India, these IT leaders won't learn their lessons.

Layoff just before the long weekends are brutal. Was mentioned that this is the last this year. So another one is likely early next year. (4 month interval, as last one happened on end of April)

Yes. And surprise surprise Trumps Healthcare cuts were listed as the main reason. Too many uninsured wanting healthcare.

We were told it was mostly eliminations of open positions.
