@bj Oh, most definitely the later. i’ve gone in much for that book learnin. Just country boy living in the backwoods down here in the holler.
I normally use my Palm Pilot for searching things and use the Opera or else Netscape Navigator browsers. But the stylus was broken so had to use my Apple Newton MessagePad instead and it works best with the Alta Vista browser for whatever reason.
Anyway, good luck to you and yours! if you are ever in the holler, look me up and I will scare us up some homemade moonshine.

TL;DR - How did a
comment disappear
- Platform/moderator deleted it → violated platform or community rules
- Automatically flagged/hidden or banned by the moderation system → certain words can trigger it, or the user may be banned for previous violations
Comments usually get deleted because they:
- 🚫 Break platform/community rules
- 👤 Harass, insult, or identify people
- ⚖️ Make potentially defamatory/legal-risk claims
- 🔒 Reveal confidential or private information
- 🤖Get caught by automated moderation
- 📢 Look like spam, promotion, or manipulation
- 📝 Are considered off-topic or inappropriate
Why do platforms do it
Mostly to:
• Protect themselves → reduce legal risk, regulatory problems, and advertiser’s complaints
• Protect the platform's quality → prevent spam, fakes/coordinated manipulation, and toxic content that drive users away
But also to:
- Protect other users → reduce harassment, doxxing, spam, threats, scams, and abusive content.
- (Somewhat) protect the poster → prompt deletion of unlawful or legally risky content may reduce the risk of the user being sued. Somewhat because - deletion does not erase liability (the platform may still have a legal obligation to retain records and disclose them to authorities or parties pursuing legal action.)

@a1, honestly, you probably won’t find out that info. Ever since that whole horror story with eBay stalking and harassing the owners of EcommerceBytes, all portal owners that criticize businesses have been keeping their identities under wraps.
You aren’t allowed to name people. Look at the terms of service for the site.

@OP Although, the corporation executives and HR probably have sway, the only persons that have the physical capability to delete posts are the 15-20 operators (aka forum administrators) that run this “TheLayoff.com” site. That is why it is crucial we get behind who actually owns this website. We need to find out who is pulling the strings behind the curtain.
