Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I applied for 2 internal jobs because I was moved on to a project that made me not want to go to work at all. It was horrible to feel that way. I had to make my manager aware of the job posting and I explained why I wanted to leave the team. She said good luck and never asked me nothing about it again. I didn’t get an interview for one and the other one was a good interview and I was told I was second pick but oh well. Anyway there’s never been any further discussion about it. I don’t have one on ones with my flagscape manager but rather a team lead. I expressed my frustration with the job but nothing ever happened.

@22v Did this a hole actually reference your age or that you are nearing retirement because if he did I would have called a labor lawyer and gotten his pathetic a-s fired and then see what the lawyer says about sueing the company. I really feel for you as I am also near retirement and have been stuck in same position for 10 years. Can’t stand these people anymore.

Relocated myself to a "campus" location thinking I would have more opportunities for movement, that was almost 2 years ago. Realized quickly I needed to remove my profile pic (age, nationality and hair color seemed to be a hinderance). Met with HR exec who 1st mentioned my age (I'm at the end of worklife), said as soon as they see my title, I am already discounted, told me he doesn't want to see anything past 10 years on my resume even tho I've been HERE more than 10 years (in the same role) and I should be able to highlight my past management experience...nope! He literally rewrote my resume as we sat there (and I hated it). The ME here is the one who set up this meeting and told me to mention my son, who is a recent veteran (MOS: cyber) because the Bank is "passionate" about hiring veterans. He actually scoffed and said my son should take an entry-level job, work it for a couple years and see where it goes. I laughed out loud and told him my son was entry level at 10 years old! His response: Well, I guess I don't know much about technology. THIS is the type of person looking at resumes/applications and likely why many aren't able to move around internally. TBH, I just want a new role to gain a new title so I can look outside the bank!

I also want to add, the longer I've been with this company, the worse I noticed I have been treated. I see newer people getting promoted over me every day. It's disgusting. I am trying to get out, but can't seem to get noticed anywhere else either. I pretty much gave up on ever moving internally. I wanted to stay for the benefits, but it's not even worth it.

I agree and I really do think it is nepotism. It has to be. I have been getting the same thing. And management says well reach out for feedback and even when I send thank you emails or feedback requests, I also get ghosted. Another thing I've noticed if I DID interview with the managers, and they reject me, they reject me with no interview as if I am blacklisted on ever other job they post going forward as well.

I have applied to over 50 positions in the last 2 years alone and I have only gotten 3 interviews. I was denied each job. Management says they will help me succeed, but it never happens, they seem to only help new people and a** kissers. I have been trying to get out of the call center environment for 6 years. It's defeating.

I’ve experienced this too. Hiring managers will only give a position to a candidate they already identified, not thru the posting process. I got lucky and landed my internal role from a recommendation by a senior manager. I didn’t even have to interview! They described the role to me and I said Yes. I was getting desperate and magically this all worked out. My only advice is to be the best in your role and let others know you are seeking your next move. Your reputation could land you a role. One of the worst companies to move up internally if you aren't friends with the hiring managers good luck. Also fsame can be said about applying externally too. With ai screening of resumes you will get a rejection email less than 24 hours of applying.

Eenie meenie miney mo. That's how they choose candidates now.

If they view you as a low caste then you are a lost cause.

If you are in there supposed caste you are good cough cough Indian.

Not all are like that but those who are fair are also treated like low caste.

Why would anyone want to move internally when the real money is externally? Chances are they found someone that cost them less than you. Don’t take it personally as it’s happened to me a few times as well. Funny thing is, they still come to me for help.

FACT: if you want a promotion or a different job area (or both) - quit this bank and go for a competitor! You will get far more money, and likely a far better platform that runs much smoother.

@OP this is typical.

Nothing matters if the manager likes the candidates caste. The bank is getting worse. First, they should fire all upper caste contractors. They contaminating the work places.

I feel the same way- Could not go anywhere in the company.
I applied to varying roles throughout my career here and received the same decline emails.
I gave up on ever moving up within the company.

Job openings must be posted to give all an opportunity to bid.

Most (not all) have a candidate identified already. So 1 of 2 things happened.

1) Budget for that position was eliminated.
2) Or A candidate was already identified that fit EVERY criteria and this was simply a process.

But dont stop bidding.
