I worked with many people who have died of cancer at a fairly young age, particularly in the last 10 years and also have some neighbors who did. None of them had ever worked at any plant or refinery of any kind. Always in the office or elsewhere. Your point?

I see comments about oak point being a toxic place, I am not durr if people are commenting on the work environment or the chemicals at the plant.
But, I worked with a guy that was at the oak point plant for 15+ years and he died of cancer at a fairly young age. He was a great guy, he was very intelligent and one of things I admired about him was his willingness to challenge people to always get the best results for the company. I really liked him and I was sad to hear he passed away a few years ago.
So is the place toxic with cancerous materials? Sadly, I would have to say yes.
@22n, No, that would be 100% wrong. Oak P. is one of the few CVX facilities that do a good job in getting rid of the people who don't perform. Hence their overall good reputation and perfectly explains the feedback from the types of personnel who post on sites like this.

Don't know date, but not surprised. Running business to the ground. The US plant manager not concerned about plant, people, or community, only concern about #1. Very toxic environment.
