Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Almost 30 years in

Early retirement is close. Is it smart to jump now or should I wait? My wife says take the plunge since her insurance covers us, but I'm still not sure.

yes, the financial picture is important. But if you are close to hitting your financial Mark, you should leave. Do not give them one more hour of your life that could be spent around family and friends. For 30 years you have sacrificed your life to a legal prison called the corporate world. You will never get that time back. Use the remaining time to do what you would like to do, strengthen relationships, and do what you would like to do. Very soon, to human body is going to break down and you will no longer be able to do things like before. When you were healthy, the corporate world took all of your energy. You need to leave while you can and while you still have some energy left

Do you prefer Saturdays or Mondays? :) ...
Make a list of what's holding you back. Then research and learn so you can make the jump when it's right for you.

You are a 401k & Pension millionaire if you 30 years with USAA. Agree asking financial planner. However why bother & tolerate life of corporate slavery in USAA where you have freedom of choice.

You should call fidelity and take advantage of the financial planners as part of our retirement plan, so a licensed fiduciary can give you reassurance with your actual numbers. Just call the company benefit line and choose the fidelity option.
