This is what my manager has communicated to me. Keep in my mind my role can be done 100% from home. And this is why I’m looking for a different job.

I don’t like RTO any more than anyone. I hate being in physical proximity to my manager. He’s a drunken blowhard who calls meetings simply to have a captive audience to his bloviating.
But WFH was never intended to be a permanent condition of employment. It was put in place to protect employees from Covid. So I never made lifestyle decisions based on the assumption that WFH would last forever.
I didn’t get a dog. I didn’t move out of the city where my office is. I didn’t expect the money I saved on commuting costs to always be there.
And now I’m hearing co-workers whining and complaining about all those things. Well, what did you expect? The pandemic to go on forever? You’re lucky it lasted 3 years and not three months.
Some departments in Texas are required to make up work from home ice days (schools closed, no mail etc) so that we have our 3 a week average in office days meet. So disrespectful. People are quitting and/or looking for jobs in droves cause of the disrespect.
@wur+1liBqxfe NO business needs provide you or any other dolt with a “valid reason” for requiring RTO. Unless you are a majority shareholder you are owed an explanation of nothing along these lines.
Don’t get me wrong, I am impacted by RTO and do not agree with it at all but the business owes no justification to me of their choice. The same if your job tasks are changed because they choose so. Excluding the realms of discrimination and harassment you simple accept or decline the changes through your employment status.

The holiday counts as in office, so there's one day. Today there was no snow, so probably should have gone in.
Friday will likely be back to decent driving - but even if it isn't - Wells literally left me 3 voicemails and also sent an email stating "if you work in a Wells Fargo administrative site and are able to work from home, please do so....until the storm clears".
Maybe these all came out after your numbskull manager in Charlotte or Phoenix said you'd better show up. Just forward him/her the email and say you intend to follow the directions.
hr usually sends out emails warning of storms and to work with your manager around being able to work from home if your role and they allow. end up day it's up to your manager. if you don't want to come in and they won't let you work from home then take PTO
WF sent out a notification stating if you can work remote, do so. All this crying for nothing.
City and County officials in MN are telling people to stay off the roads if at all possible during this snowstorm. But I’m sure that WF leadership knows better.
Stay home. Not going in one time is not going to get you fired.
You could also leak it to the news. "Wells Fargo Risking Lives of Employees During Major Winter Event."
Pre COVID we were allowed to make the work remote decisions on our own when there were Midwest snowstorms. Now even when the predictions are up to 20” we have to wait for permission from our Southeast leadership to not work the 3 days this week. Rumor has it we will have to make up the days to make us whole.
this is very solveable. our group is just tracking when we have weather events and manually ignoring those days for affected people when the RTO reporting comes out
Your manager knows that if she makes an exception for a snowstorm you will be back with excuse after excuse after excuse. Next will be a sniffle, then it will be your kid’s dance recital. She didn’t make the 3 day rule, but it’s her Job to enforce it. Best to n-p your BS in the bud at the outset.
To call anyone in Minnesota a snowflake when they are concerned about weather is laughable. Minnesotans regularly go into the office under conditions that would send an east or west coast employee scurrying for cover - an inch for them is a snow emergency. However, this week we are talking about a 20 inch snow storm. Even Minnesotans have a healthy respect for that much snow and the danger of trying to drive around as it is falling. And they should.

There are so many companies forcing RTO and not providing a logical, fact based reasons why, that I'm starting to think WFH is somehow a threat to upper management.
Not middle managers, the C level folks.

These entitled fratboys and sorority girls, who got into good schools not based on grades or achievement, but thanks to their parents bribes, who use American corporations like their own personal ATM's, must be worried about something.
Who will see the diploma their mommies paid for if no one ever passes by their office? Who will see the autographed picture of them with Jack Welch, or them at the summit of some mountain, if we aren't onsite?
How will we ever know how awesome these folks are?
Do they even exist if the people doing the actual work can't see them?

Fu-k this whole company. You get no more than the bare minimum from me til my/the collective morale goes back up.
Not going in one time will not result in termination in and of itself. Make a note of the reason why you didn't come in, and if it comes up again, explain you needed to choose safety. If you have been staying out of the office every week for storms, colds, and other reasons, then it might be a different story.

Pre Covid, very few managers would have had this requirement. I was happily free from working in an office for more than 10 years and was treated as an adult. This post Covid monitoring and threat of corrective action to show face a few times a week is insulting. It’s not that I have a difficult commute or that I’m a snowflake, it’s the idiocy of forcing me in when I don’t work with people who live here and most of all, treating me like a child and making RTO and gaming the RTO system top of mind every day. It’s really d-mb and it’s really disengaging. I hate this place.
If you were in the "favorite" category, I bet you wouldn't have been told that. It's 2 rules, 1 for "friends/favorites", 1 for "non friends/non favorites". A selective, non supportive manager at WF, quelle surprise. Good Luck.

Great products and ideas are borne over coffee in the office on cold snowy days.
Wells sure has some snowflakes. I used to cross country ski into work when it snowed. Got there by 8am and made loans, skies back home at 5:30 pm, it builds character.
