This is due to AT&T Public Sector horrible leadership.
The sales engineers are the least technical inept and all the good technical people left due to not only bad coworkers but lack of promotion, poor pay, and poor raises. Not to mention benefits cut increasing medical benefits.
VA is moving mobile service contract from T to VZ, too, but keeping TMO.
Perhaps Toxic-T did not meet the DEI criteria of the contract with a bald old white privilege dude in charge?
Well yeah there’s going to be service and reliability issues when you’re still using archaic analog circuits working on 60+ year old rotten copper cables that go back to broken D4 channel banks with hosed up test access smas and using manufacturer discontinued plugs on both ends. Every time you get a trouble ticket you grab 7 or 8 plugs and hope 1 of them works.
After working in the Harris FAA NOCC I found AT&T had the worst reputation with customer service and reliability issues. Verizon was almost as bad. The FAA usually blames L3 anyway.
Firstnet has nothing to do with the FAA or Verizon(Business).
And AT&T is kicking there a-s with First Net. We are taking in a shitload of cash from First Net.
This isn’t necessarily the nega-flex that the OP thinks it may be. Harris currently runs FAA networks. They have a ton of analog circuits and still use floppy disks. Just because Verizon takes over doesn’t mean T is going to be out of the picture. They’re still going to need local circuits and carriers to move data across the country.
These deals are done at cost or below …big deal.
The federal government uses more than one carrier at all times. The FAA is only one entity. It is true that contracts are awarded primarily between VZ and ATT and this one will probably swing to T at expiration.
Do we blame them? AT&T has had sh---y management and leadership for years. They are not fooling anyone. Just look at Stankey's failures thru the years.
This is true about government contracts changing periodically just to keep the playing field fair!
Normal MO! Government likes to change vendors every few years. It's the only fair way to distribute contracts fairly. Just wait 7 - 8 years, our turn will come again.
