Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Seems like almost everyone is miserable as he-l these days. Stressed, depressed, anxious, angry

RTO is not the problem for me. I’m 100% remote and have been for over 10 years. My issue is I can no longer post for a position because I’m nearly two hours from the nearest HUB. I have offered to go to a local branch or processing center (we have several in a 20 mile radius) but it’s not an option. Managers aren’t willing to request approval for other sites because it’s more work. Sure, I can go somewhere else as others have said, but I have over 20 years in and I’ve been good enough for 3 remote roles in 10 years.
I’m not refusing RTO. If there’s room in a building we already own or rent and it’s not going away, why not fill those locations?

I'm beginning to hate this company with the fiery intensity of a thousand suns.

@2ajr+1lL7l6jR sorry Scott nobody likes you. Go lick some boots while the leaders disembowel this company. Progress is only stifled by laggards like you. I’ll wait for your response when you get out of traffic

If you live 40 miles or less to your office pre-COVID and you went to the office 5 days a week, it is not unreasonable to be asked to RTO 2-3 days per week.

The kind of entitlement exhibited by many employees on this issue is mind boggling.

We Americans are a tad spoiled brats, sorry to say.

Vote the post down if you wish but the truth is glaring.

Inefficient companies will be surpassed by those that are sane, it's a matter of time. Maintaining buildings for 100,000 workers that do not need to be in one is inefficient as he-l.

The only reason the banking industry execs want RTO is to prop up the buggy whip...errr...the CR market and to encourage people to quit. That's not sustainable. It's throwing good money after bad. RTO is the "8 is Great" of this decade. Not in a regulatory sense, but it will do grievous damage to the company long term. We're torching money that we desperately need elsewhere for absolutely no reason. Other than that, it's a great idea.

I hope they fire all of you snubbing RTO, lol. You have it really good here and you will blow that. I say ship it all to India and let these whiny babies go here.

It will 5 days RTO soon enough and I will laugh my bu-t off when they do that.

It was bad before Covid but ever since they forced us back to the office it’s been off the charts miserable. RTO and the dinosaurs enforcing it have destroyed any morale that was remaining at this sinking ship.

@1qaf+1lL7l6jR the reason age of employees is shown in the document is to prove that there was no disproportionate (illegal) impact to the protected class - age over 40.

it's all about ratios. If the age composition of the displaced is statistically similar (not identical) to the age composition of the department - then there is no basis for a claim of age discrimination.

Wrong. THIS company was not the same, pre-CS/SP. And no, I don't mean the go go 8 is Great stuff. Believe it or not, outside of retail the vast majority of the company had nothing to do with any scandal. Employees were legitimately respected for their contribution and I loved my job. Then these two piece of S came along and made it their mission to destroy everything that was good about this company while claiming what they were doing is fixing past transgressions. It's all BS from a couple of no good A holes. FNYC.

It's all part of the plan. These managers come in from outside and don't know what you do or why you do it, so they don't understand your value. So when CS says send these jobs off shore or eliminate the position all together, the managers can't even plead a case for keeping you. Middle and upper management bonuses are likely tied to cutting costs, so there's incentive to reduce head count.

welcome to corporate America people. I'd say if your unhappy you should go find a job elsewhere but chances are most other companies are exactly the same.

That’s because we are all miserable and this company is a complete failure from a morale and employee engagement standpoint. Charlie lost the locker room a long time ago.

Woops, forgot we can’t use sports analogies anymore. My social credit has already been adjusted. I’l put off my work today to attend an inclusion training module.

Usually in bad companies you can get by with decent managers. Or, you can tolerate a bad manager in a decent company until you can post out. Here most of the managers are not decent or supportive, not even treating their employees with respect. In a bad company, good luck navigating that 2 strike deal.

Yeah, but flipping Hudson Yards the bird will still be satisfying anyway. Silence is consent and all, and I don't think they cook the books on the survey or our numbers would look a heck of a lot better than they do. What they do do is gloss over the categories that point to the real problem that they don't want them talk about. "Oh, engagement scores are down, that means people want to spend more time in the office!". "Oh, scores for diversity are down? It must mean that the entry level people are all racist, more DEI training for the plebes. Meanwhile let's hire some more of our white bros from JPM!"

Their ability to interpret data is shockingly bad. No one is that d-mb, they know exactly what they are doing. Tank morale until enough people quit to hit their headcount goals. That's all it is.

I took a year off after quitting before I even started looking for another job. WF took such a toll on my mental health. My current company does not have a single post on this board.

Please think about looking elsewhere if your situation allows—WF is toxic. Yes, I come back here every so often and am never surprised that nothing has gotten better.

I hate what the company has become. And my job has changed so much in the last two years I wouldn't even apply for it.

It's true for me unfortunately. Nearing 20 years here....absolutely miserable in the modern day environment. Email and conf calls is no way to spend a career.....with the primary success criteria being how much of your bosses nuts you can gobble down on a consistent basis.

Wells Fargo eliminated our Treasury Mgt. Client Service area in 2014. Most of us were in our 50s and older with a small few in their 40s. The severance package listed the ages of the department employees which made me think we were being laid off due to age as a possible reason. In noticing other laid off employees referencing age, could Wells be a source of focus for legal investigation for age discrimination within the layoffs?

Not in marketing. We’re Golden Children who are oblivious to and unaffected by the vagaries of business cycles.

We know about the layoffs, but they might as well be happening on the moon for all we care. We just go merrily on putting in our two hours a day. We are supposed to be in the office three days per week, but our managers don’t show up so nobody else does either.

Yep, the next employee survey is going to be total annihilation, and the execs will decide that the way to fix it is to harass everyone even more with BS that will just make it worse.
