Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Potential Large Layoffs/Building Consolidations/Sketchy Town Hall Postponement

For those of you “in the know”, is 3/21 still happening, and if so, which specific groups will be affected?
With many locations attempting to consolidate into one building (Des Moines for example), you’d have to think a ton of extra space will need to be made via layoffs.
The Companywide Town Hall being postponed without a postponement date, combined with the fact that it has only been communicated via Teamworks, is quite strange. I’d assume there are many people who have no idea it’s been postponed.
What’s the scoop, big wigs?

The Jordan Creek campus, where employees are being consolidated, can seat everyone currently employed in the DSM metro. Parking, on the other hand, will be a nightmare.

COO managers in the know have taken hour-long HR seminars. Service Now has active displacement workflows. Two 3-downs have told me from OC there will be layoffs.

Someone posted the following a while ago, which I have heard and seen in motion.

Notice. Conduct Management monitors on this site. Kiss my behind!
Halt new hires. This started months ago with dropping 30 plus open recs and backfills across various COO teams, along with reviews of contractor resource utilization.

Implement aggressive site strategy. We see buildings shuttered across the country. I heard Ballantyne is being looked at. I was told layoffs would include the termination of non-hub employees in 3 waves based on criticality and previous performance.

Reorganization of the LOB. This started already, but mild changes began in the last few weeks, but many more to come.

Drive span and layers hard. This has been going on for years, but a new round is coming since they will not have enough roles or people to meet standards for all managers due to org changes.

Powell delayed, presumably because the OC was on alert for the banking meltdown.

A director said they are going to lose a lot of good people.

My days are numbered after 19 years as I am on a redundant biz execution team and was already relieved of my manager title last year.

Considering zero-day notices are a given, this hush hush by management is getting old. They aren't clever and not well respected enough to pull it off in such a way that those not laid off will feel fortunate and re-energized anew.

How about being a bit, oh I don't know, professional about things and maybe we can all end on good terms?

It would be a win-win for employer and employee by simply coordinating together. There's nothing an angry employee can do to WF on the way out the door that the bank doesn't do to itself already. There are enough ki-l switches that could be implemented to keep people around long enough to ease the transition of work.

Most of us are super great people, especially the long timers, and are acting professionally each day despite feeling undervalued and anxious about that freaking phone call telling us we are done immediately.

The company keeps posting on Teamworks about mental and physical health, wellness, blah blah blah. But what if you, the employer, are the cause of that. C'mon now, let's get our heads out of the trash. Not expecting any hugs and tears, just a little professionalism, the type of professionalism that once was valued.

Listen, my side biz is very dependent on selling t-shirts that say "03/21/23 Wells Fargo Layoffs Participant". It has to happen.

No one ever prints t-shirts of things that haven't happened, right sports fans?

A little bit of banking problems is no reason for Charlie to stop the sla-ghter. Tally Ho.

@nth - da---t. I'm in COO and wanted to be laid off. I am not in a hub or a second-tier non-hub location. I've heard nothing about displacement. Sounds like I'm not on the chopping block. I will hold out hope for a near-future round ...

Invites were sent out for a live event "AMA with Wells Fargo Recruiters" on 3/23 next week at the recently sold HMHQ in West Des Moines to help you "pivot or advance your career at Wells Fargo".
