Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Is WF even a bank anymore

I logged in this morning assuming we would be getting an email on any impacts with SVB and talking points to discuss how we are different. Instead I can lose weight, we have quantum computing give loudspeaker a try and my mental health matters.

What the actual Fxxx. I feel like I am in kindergarten - are we a bank or are we some new age start up that is waiting for SVB to give them money. Or is it that the masses no longer matter and only the big wigs need to understand anything.

Oh and thank you..

I guess, some folks just decided to ignore comments about the fact that if you were in the client-facing and other product role, you would have received a lot of communications today, including the client call hosted by the WF Institute. This messaging just does not fit the profile of those posters who want to continue to bash this company because they need to come to the office several times per week...

we are a bank but not of the stature of SVB in their peak success. they had an A rating for its Environmental, Social and Governance policies as they increased diversity. We haven't reached those heights yet. we're getting better at it but still a lot of work to do in that area. It's a shame what happened to SVB but i hope we can garner the focus they had to our company culture.

totally agree with OP that we're being treated like kindergartners 1) being told we have to RTO to collaborate.... remember Saul telling us we need to socialize--and with that you maybe find love in the parking lot? 2) believe and trust what people in charge of you say...
this bank had some payment processing issues last week -

  • now customer activity volume is high, not in a good way....scaring WF enough to halt any network changes...

I doubt you're client facing then. WFA had many talking points.

Yes this would be an ideal time for the management to discuss their product vision of what the bank is composed of and how they differentiate from a VC bank in California. But wait... Is there a product vision?

SVB is another example of a bank with a risk team that existed in name only and served no purpose to actually mitigate risk.

Work has been reduced to mindless tasks where the overall narrative doesn't matter. We aren't considered as valuable assets that have a part in the bank's mission. We do not need to know anything about the business model or how it operates.

Keep your head down, don't ask questions, check a few boxes, collect a paycheck. Go home.

If Charlie has to explain to you how we are different then you really shouldn’t be here

Let me guess OP, you fix printers for wells?

WFC and SVB have different business models.

Top of house will eventually release some gaslit, nonsensical statement through a lower rung peon that will say absolutely nothing and go absolutely nowhere just to check a box. Courage in leadership is the goal. Cowardice in leadership is the expectation at Wells Fargo.🤷🏻
