Des Moines. Charlotte has to be a far better place for recruiting etc. Plus the size of the employee base there.
Somebody mentioned Hudson yards-- I'm simply astounded that we have put so much into that place given how expensive the real estate is there. I remember a few years ago that hiring in zone 0 (NYC) was supposed to be very limited. But yeah, let's just staff up in one of the most expensive places to be.

Have you met the hacks from Walkoverya? Id--ts that created pickApay garbage…think they’re so smart but wouldn’t have a job if WFC hadn’t bought them.
At this stage, it should be Des Moines. The more talented people began leaving in late 2020 as they were astute enough to see the beginning of the slow decline underway. What's left all talk a big game but have no substance. Those that have stayed are now without options as the most attractive jobs for the other major employers in the area have already been filled. As mortgage is closed down those jobs (obviously) are gone. The tech/compliance/control roles that are tied to mortgage also go. Maybe some back office rudimentary roles like collections and call centers will be left but that is all. I see employment going from approximately 13k to around 4k.
@uvu+1lAW04yw Read the full post. “… easier to recruit in Charlotte.” I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that means the people who work there now are ok but if they were to leave it would be hard to replace them since the local talent pool is not so deep.
The Hudson Yards crowd is rubbing their hands together and snickering, knowing full well that eventually both will be eliminated. Automation / contracting / outsourcing to India will ki-l all the US hubs eventually.
What’s even in Des Moines anymore? Mortgage headquarters? Does diversity hire Kristy Fercho even work there though?
I mean the choice is obviously to keep Charlotte. They have several thousand more employees there and Charlotte is the banking HQ of the country basically.
Des Moines. Not impressed with most people I've met from this location. They try to act like they are over burdened and being treated so wrong. Yet, they seem to be most
toxic people ever. Essentially, they are the cause of their own work related problems.

I agree Des Moines would have to be the one to go. CLT has a way better talent pool (banking finance services) second to NYC. In fact a lot NYers work in CLT.
Des Moines is only good for a specific purpose: basic operations and datacenters. It won't be attractive enough to house executives or true decision makers. This plagues most Midwestern towns, despite the great people and overall affordability.
CLT. Hands down. Have never seen so many fragile, insecure people in my life. Only worried about people pleasing and their personal reputations. Living in a bubble and clueless about what's going on in industry and the world. Biggest mistake banking ever made was to expand in southern cesspool.

There is zero talent pool in Des Moines. You can argue the pool in Charlotte isn’t great but there are other FIs and corporate HQs to pull from.
Des Moines is attractive for its low pay scale. A lot of good people work there, not dissing them, but, in the aggregate, easier to recruit in Charlotte.
