Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Bloomberg News seeking info on buyouts for a story

Hi all, I'm Ike Swetlitz, a health journalist with Bloomberg News. I cover health insurance, among other topics.

I've been reading a lot of these posts about the buyouts. I'm trying to learn more, for a story.

If you're interested in speaking with me, I'd be grateful if you could contact me at iswetlitz@bloomberg.net or 630-544-9414 (cell phone - Signal / call / text / etc). You can be anonymous -- I will NOT print your name unless you give me permission. You can also find my contact information on LinkedIn or send me a message there (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ikeswetlitz/)

I'm trying to learn more about how many jobs are being eliminated, and when the buyouts are actually happening (now vs next year).

Thank you!

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, the right to assemble peaceably, and the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

@OP Sir, the Centene news is already out. A quick online search will show you the articles. You also have plenty of infu right here on this forum to start your piece. If you need an official comment, please contact Centene directly and they will provide a statement for you.

@OP I suggest you wait to hear from Centene employees by end of next week. Some probably want to run things by their employment attorneys first and may even have them contact you or draft up a script from which they will read. After all, we live in a litigious society.

There would not be so much push back, if there were not things to hide, is my thought.

Good luck with your employee feedback and your article. I hope I get to read it someday soon. Take care.

I most certainly never said any of the screed you just posted.

@OP Regrettably, pursuing a statement from this group is unproductive. Their online demeanor does not reflect their willingness to speak publicly. I advise against spending more time on this. They are far more vocal online than they are willing to be in person.

@a6

Look how frantic this shill-for-hire is, re: trying to out whoever might DARE to speak their truth about what this place has been up to lately, when it comes to how they (mis)treat their employees with the VSP, moving goalposts re: timelines, layoffs, etc.

They see even just a bit of pushback to their bullying tactics, and their response is to repeatedly shriek at people to "REVEAL YOUR NAME!!!" They'd rather try to cause trouble for those bold enough to speak up, than to do some quiet reflection on how damaging all of this has been to so many...much less ever changing their ways, and start to treat people better, and do what's right.

Nope!
They won't be doing any soul-searching or personal inventory to change for the better.
They're so devoid of humanity within themselves, that they rationalize that what's being done to others here is totally fine.
But they know it isn't.
Which is why they panic when even the mention of having the word get out about it is brought up.
Because it's clear that when left to their own devices, their choice is to try to intimidate, silence, and "punch down" onto others.
It makes them feel "powerful" and "successful."

What pathetic, weak-souled, insecure evil clowns these "people" are.

Speak out boldly, and in truth.
The truth intimidates them, because they know what they're doing is wrong.
Shine a big, huge, never-ending spotlight onto their darkness!

@bd Just to be clear, the person (me) who has typed the last few pasts is different person than @ak. Although, I do share his idea of free speech, I try to convey my message calmly, without so much emotion, and without curse words.

I actually am a very charming person. But I did serve this country and I will never be bullied by a person nor a company entity. And of when I observe bullying take place, most likely I will enter the conversation, which is what I have done here.

I would not have carried on with so many posts but I and others were treated with such disrespect that zi felt compelled to continue.

When I am treated with respect, I will always treat others with respect. Whomever the persons trying to get some sort of emotional reaction, well, hopefully they realize that will not work with me.

I hope Centene can figure out how to treat their employees better and with respect. You never know when someone that may also be ultra rich is casually trolling sites like these out of boredom.

To be frank, it is easy for individuals to voice opinions anonymously online. However, it is highly unlikely that anyone currently employed by Centene will reach out directly. Furthermore, even after departing the company, former employees are careful to protect their professional reputations and future job prospects.

IF we out of fear allow the ultra rich or powerful corporations to silence us, what kind of message does that give?

What is next? Will someday, perhaps soon, will we be inadvertently conveying to them that because they are rich and powerful, if they don’t like what someone beneath them says, will be saying that itis okay for them to use hackers to identify the precise location of someone that posted something they didn’t like or spoke to a news media and then these rich powerful entities do the unthinkable (at least to us) and hire someone to “take care of them?!”

I am sure none of us want to convey and make them think that is okay. I certainly hope our law enforcement and our government would not give the ultra rich and powerful persons and rich and powerful corporations a pass for such heinous behavior.

Important to not show fear and weakness to the ultra rich and powerful or they will think they can do ANYTHING.

Make sure they understand that they are still just a company and has to play by the same legal rules as the rest of us.

@ak You sound charming.

my post with the contact info was copy/paste from the public Centene contact us pages. WHILE I DID CAPITALIZE THE WORD ~or~
it was only because I was trying to "format" my post so I didn't look unhinged typing out paragraphs of screed. ahem............

thelayoff.com is not set up for html markup (aka: normal formatting in most message boards)

btw: Centene site tends to post like this:

For the sale of the next generation, it is crucial that we not it be the case that jist because someone or some entity is ultra rich and ultra powerful that gives them the right and makes it okay to control others and put fear into them. Our constitution even recognized this and implemented parts of it to protect everyone’s rights as being equal. We cannot and should not be bullied by ultra rich or powerful corporations just because they can…ESPECIALLY when they are acting corruptly.

@b4 Don't try to gaslight me or hide behind excuses and speculation now. You literally just claimed this was about freedom of speech and said you didn't care about losing your job. So prove it. Reveal your name. Let’s see you be loud, fearless, raw, and uncut.

See everyone, there obviously really are ways to bring down or at least somewhat cripple these large corporations. Or else you would have read so many upset concerns about employees speaking with news media. If corporations were so invincible as they try to make is think, they wouldn’t give a care about employees speaking with news media.

There are several other ways to chip away at their public image and even stock market, if wanted. But they would have you to be in fear and also have you believe that they are invincible. NOT TRUE!!!

This is the second time this guy has posted asking for a story. Everyone keeps talking about freedom of speech and claiming they don't care about losing their jobs. Well, why hasn't anyone reached out to him yet? It's easy to be loud and brave behind a screen. Bring that same energy to the actual story! Reveal your name and don't back down now. Go for it—this is your chance to finally be heard!

@b1 How do you know if we ja e not already. Also, we choose to do it on OUR time, of OUR choosing, NOT yours.

Furthermore, why the threatening behavior and speech. I doubt any non-worker bee on VSP for in fear of layoff would speak the way you do. So, either has to be a Director, Human Resources, or Executive. Fine way to act in such a position. I hope you corporate shills get sued personally, not just the company. It may happen, just watch! Keep smarting off and see! C’mon?!

Missouri follows the Employment-At-Will doctrine.

I don't have any info that potentially gives me "whistleblower protection"

Ergo, I have no funds for a 1A legal battle.

I'll be following you on muckrackDOTcom.

I do love me some 1A & 2A, but my Centene $$$ does not go as far as it used to. :(
My little car is just about paid off, but is in no way big enough for me to consider as a future residence.

Also, that you're "leadership" or a PR shill here doing their dirty work.
Now make sure to gray out this post, as you've done with all the others, so the + points just happen to end up being exactly the same number as any - points any posts are given!

Boy oh boy, you sure are SLICK!

@a6

You seem to be very unnerved about people speaking freely about the VSP bait & switch.

Why the ALL CAPS frenzied insistence that this story only be reported through the spin doctored channels of HR?

Ike is entitled to speak with and report on whomever and whatever he chooses. And he doesn't have to listen to you, obey you, or abide by your tyrannical preferences; nor does anyone else have to do so. People are free to engage in conversation with him about this topic, whether you want them to or not. You don't own people. We have free speech in the USA.

Fu*k your attempts to silence, intimidate, and censor people.
You mess with people's money and livelihoods, VSP or no VSP, people are going to talk.
Don't want people talking? Then maybe treat them fairly, respectfully, and professionally.

If you have nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to hide, then you shouldn't have any problem at all with people discussing what's going on here. The fact that you're so adamantly against having this issue freely aired out in the open, while desperately trying (and failing) to control the narrative, speaks volumes.

You don't get to decide who people speak with, or what they choose to discuss.
You have NO CONTROL over that at all.
: )

Go through the post read about the offshore plans that have been in the works but the affected department (Medicare Config) was not notified unfit after the VSP was closed out that’s where you can start
