Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I love my job at Verizon

I do the bare minimum, and I get treated exactly the same as people who go above and beyond and have practically traded their lives for work. Why would I leave? Where else am I going to find a deal like that? And before you all come at me with hate, ask yourselves who's really responsible for creating that mindset.

Impacted in the latest RIF here, and I completely agree. Leaving with my head high and happily taking the package. Doing 'AI' at Verizon wasn't real AI work, and I was stalling professionally, so I'm glad to be moving on. Still, you can't deny it was a sweet setup with cushy job, easy bonus, and why almost nobody quits on their own

This is about 95% of the employees they kept after the Nov RIF.

@c0 Hope you were getting paid for those 12 hours. Otherwise, you were part of the problem

I was the one working 12 hr days and trading my life and my family life for my career at Verizon (I loved my job). Ultimately, they RIFd me and just transferred my work to others on the team. I think the harder I worked, it just put a big red target on my back. So you might have the right work / life balance strategy.

This is the most honest post yet on this site. You are not alone, I guarantee you that. Some people who are trading their lives with extra work, it is an attempt to climb the corporate ladder - good for them!

I am in Texas but won’t say where. I basically go to office 3 days a week from 9 to 4. Never on mondays and fridays cause I work in a family business these other days. No supervision so I am making the best of it my staff never asks so I don’t tell them where I am. Life is good!!! Go big red
