I hope SAP will hire more Indians. I want to work in waldorf and make a lot of money.

I am also a very good employee. It would be good for SAP to hire me.

@yq don’t indulge with such people and respond to them. They only sow hated amongst colleagues. We don’t even know from where he/she is from and from which company or country.

@vt Actually there WAS news. For a change he didn't say "no layoffs." This time he said "I can't guarantee there won't be layoffs."

@tn you see this is infuriating to me and show just how appalling CK is as CEO. A feature is a part of our product that provides some functionality and value our clients. AGENTS are a feature. We shouldn't insist on a specific way to provide that value to clients but should instead use the most efficient method. This shows he doesn't understand software engineering, doesn't understand hpom and only understands how to fool clients into buying stuff. He is not fit for his role and the that he stays in it the more certain the doom of SAP.

The second thing he said is he won't tolerate (that's the term he used) anyone who don't embrace AI and wait until those who did make any mistake to tell them "you see I told you that AI method don't work"

So of you have a bad remark (or little resistance) keep it for yourself or it will be used against you.

@r9 Mongoose was supposed to be hidden and under the radar. They chose a mountain name because this is out there now for everyone to see. And Fuji from Japan because the executives and HR want to make the job culture at SAP worldwide worse the job culture in Japan. Easy peezy.

Why it's called Fuji?

@mn the board has been following a strategy where they layoff people below the legal threshholds so they don’t have to file WARN notices. Sometimes the “cost savings” will be high and then WARNs will be filed. They’ve been doing the same thing in Europe; if there’s a threshhold where SAP has to file a notice or notify the works council, they’ll layoff a number of people under the threshhold.

What I’d recommend is searching for the Works Council SharePoint site. They post their discussions with the board mostly on a quarterly basis, and you’ll get an idea of what’s coming in the future. It’s immensely helpful for knowing if your org will be affected in the next year based on the changes discussed.

@nj Christian Klein's contract is till the end of 2028. Other executive board members and area executives will leave or retire around that time. Why do you think they care about anything but getting more money from SAP into their own pockets? They don't care about what happens to SAP as long as they get their money. And if SAP lays off more employees, they make more money as the share price will go up a little bit. They will just time it such that they can get the most for their personal bonuses, that's all. To greedy millionaires, nothing else matters.

@ne Engineers are the ones creating the products that Sales & Marketing sell so that SAP makes money.

Try to vibe code a production ready software and we'll talk after. Top Software companies who let go a high number of developers are now struggling because they don't know the code AI produced in mass and it takes longer for AI to fix a bug it created... Now they start hiring again, they just changed the name and profile of the job description to not make themselves look bad... This should be a lesson for others promoting lay off for AI in software engineers.

I am sure that someone from HR or close to the executives are writing these messages. Because if we are squabbling between ourselves, no one is paying attention to HR who are decreasing employee benefits and area executives who are increasing their personal bonuses.

We need to focus on the HR and executives. It is employees vs Executives not Germans vs Indians.

Sap will need to let go Germans and keep just a base team of 5000 folks in Germany , rest work can be done from India . That will help with the bottom line. Sap will always be profitable with that simple move. India with AI should help our stocks go up more . The base 5000 ppl in Germany will be our face for European customers .

HR cannot be replaced by AI because their work is very humancentric. But any engineer can be replaced by AI. So I hope they replace engineers with AI. It will save money and this money will trickle down as bonuses for the rest of us.

Indians are better than you. SAP will always prefer Indians. We do the needful and are very good employees. We will outperform you. And we will still be at SAP when you are laid off.

My manager says that anyone who didn't study at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut or Heidelberg University and works at WDF or ROT should start looking for a new job starting tomorrow. Their main focus is to get rid of immigrants that can be replaced easily. And to find them, they're running browser data from Walkme and AI data from Joule through Palantir.

@mv I can imagine that a lot of the lawyers at the senior level are very well paid - especially those with 20+ years of tenure. Two of the L2s alone would save over a million in salary/bonus/benefits.

@mn these layoffs are focused on reducing Product and Engineering roles as they usually get paid more than anyone else except Sales. The executive board considers HR and Legal as critical to business needs so you’ll never see any layoffs in HR. Marketing may see a few cuts but Product Marketing will be axed as much as possible.

Has anyone checked to see if a WARN notice was filed in any state in the US? Seems odd that back office like HR, Legal and Marketing are never included when some of the functions they perform are meant to gain efficiency through AI?

@m4 Evils. They are there to execute on SAP wishes, threaten you, and make your life he-l if that serves the purpose. All that fancy People & Culture deck was just that an expensive outsourced project that just look good, but it's not actionable nor reflect the reality.

@j5 agree, HR in sap is poison.

The fastest way to make SAP the greatest IT company is to replace the vast majority of Americans and Europeans with Indians.

@j5 I thought that all AI strategy relies on US Product and Engineering in Palo Alto... Do you know (without being too specific to stay anonymous) which teams/products are impacted?

If US is impacted does it mean Canada is next and Europe is third?

@hx they are keeping HR, keeping marketing, keeping support, keeping IT, keeping a lot of other "supporting roles" and laying off Product and Engineering employees. And the board wants to replace engineers with AI instead of replacing HR with AI. It's disgusting.

@OP I don’t know what Fuji is but some US employees in Product and Engineering have been laid off. They have through October to find something else, but it’s already starting.

@cp same in the US however the h1 b program is finally being investigated for fraud which is rampant in SAP US. The program is being used for cheap labor and not for talent that we lack. The US is finally waking up..

They should have called it Project Fubar!

@av It's not under NDA if there are public news articles on the project. CK himself was vague in terms of job security, and he may actually rely on attrition to get the savings he needs to pay for more AI.

@ac check the emails from Works Council. They mention 14000 jobs impacted not 14000 layoffs. A lot of area executives use such reorgs to create fake jobs and give more money to their friends and family. I suspect around 10000 will be laid off worldwide. SAP wants to increase operations in the US due to close proximity with the biggest partner - Palantir. South East Asia are already running at less than half the costs per German employee and Eastern Europe at less than 75% cost per German employee. So I suspect Europe will see the most layoffs.

I'm already going through rounds of interviews wish me luck I get the job ahead if this headcount reduction happens.
