Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Cuts imminent; 5-day RTO coming

Our division leader told us today that large-scale WF cuts are imminent. No details given when pressed.

Also indicated RTO eventually returning to 5 days per week. Not sure where they plan on putting everyone, given our reduced office spaces.

2023 looking bleak for white-collar workers. Gird your loins!

If you can’t even say so much as what line of business you’re in to give someone else a chance to confirm or deny, I’m going to assume this is just trolling.

Regarding the desire to have younger workers versus older workers. What would you rather look at: a 20 year old gal in a halter top, or a 50 year old hag in a halter top?

Simple as that.

@1qxw+1kyPRk0A Truth. I wondered why would they want younger workers? Less or no experience doesn’t seem like a good thing. Salaries have been really high for new hires so to get less experience at a premium seemed even more bonkers.

My manager is a pretty straight shooter and told me the reason they want less experience is pretty simple. Less experience may get things done slower but they will do what they’re told. They feel like the internal experienced inertia is just not worth it anymore. One look at this board and you can see what that means.

A big part of the problem they’re having now is people with experience are all doing their own thing and nothing is actually getting “done”. There will be a Feb layoff in tech, he didn’t say how big but said it wouldn’t be small. Names already lined up on it. Next one is in May and then one near end of year.

@lpv+1kyPRk0A this is two things: window dressing and an effort to replace older workers with younger. There is a huge push for social media “branding” which is akin to a laid off breadwinner dressing and leaving the house like they still have a job every morning.

Tech has three large scale layoffs planned for 2023. Thorough planning has been done already and first wave in next month.

It’s known in our group that if everyone doesn’t regularly cooperate with 3 days in the office, they will change it to 5 days in the office. ECE

I think some has an agenda here.

Maybe they should concentrate on naming a speaker of the House. 🤣

It's possible to hire in one group and lay off in others.

OP, what group are you from? I think each Business will be different.

I wonder where these cuts would be occurring? My anecdotal experience is unchecked attrition and we are hiring.

This cracks me up! This is posted on linkedin:

Wells Fargo is currently hiring for more than 1,500 open U.S.-based roles in technology and digital areas across engineering, design and product disciplines.
