Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Quitting week 1

Can I quit in 1 week? Do I need to give a notice? It is really horrible here. My manager might make me do 2 weeks. Really crazy person

Citibank will rename itself Sh!tiDes!bank or simply Des!Bank, and will continue its vicious cycle tradition of Incompetence, Arrogance, Haughty Imperiousness that helps perpetuate the endless cycle of Consent Orders, wiring Free Money Millions, Billions, and Trillions of U.S. $$ to the Wrong Accounts, Data Spaghetti Dumpster Fire, stone age "technology", low revenue/profits until....Bankruptcy.

Then Sh!tibank will rename itself CitiTitanic. LOL!

Can't handle spice or can't handle competition lol. Your jobs need to be offshored and there is NOTHING you can do about it. Thank you Jane take another $40 million bonus. Buy another yacht, another plane or that 11th cottage, whatever you want. You've earned it.

Since you didn't attend the dinner party at Paisley, at least your AS$H0le wasn't burning 🔥, and the 388 NYC Toilets 🚽🪠 thank you too!

The Toilets are tortured enough everyday!

I can relate and understand.

The Head MD decided on Paisley Restaurant in NYC as the venue for last year's Holiday/Christmas Team/Department dinner especially since he's a member of Citibank's favourite curry cabal.

Most of us were incredulous! Really??!!

We need to put up and deal with Incompetent, Arrogant, Imperious, Supercilious curry everyday, now we're expected to eat it too at the Holiday/Xmas dinner-party??!!

Needless to say, most of the employees did NOT attend.

You've been postinf about curry longer than most marriages last. At this point, you should genuinely be concerned. Did a chicken tikka masala hurt you, or did she just leave you for someone who actually knows how to season? Because this isn't a 1984 dystopia. This is a one-man parasocial breakup with an entire cuisine. She's not coming back, my guy. Neither is the naan.

Funny I 'quit' but I still work at 388. Checked out, I operate like those motion detector lights on our floor should an email or teams chat pop up. We are in a successful biz so nobody really notices or cares. The Citi way, ironic, they will probably RIF someone else as I play with my apple watch, changed the strap yesterday.

@ej You're infusing way too much drama and worry into this. You aren't that important. You worked there a week. If you quit, no one will care and it will not haunt you the rest of your life. Stop creating a problem that doesn't exist. Several people have told you this and it seems like it's not what you want to hear. Are you a drama-holic?

Thank you for the helpful feedback! I submitted and informed the HR rep. They differed back to Manager and as expected that citi dinosaur is he-l bent on making my life miserable. Seriously why hire anyone if you don't know what will they be working on? To the friendly comments who told me that I can decide and have my free will, you opened my eyes WOW life changing.
I can go F it all and not care. I refuse to go down negative and blacklisted when citi misrepresented and hired me. This is literal definition of workplace retaliation. The HR policies say AT WILL but clearly its one sided. I merely posted this to get any helpful information on HR policies and not to make myself unhirable. Who knows in 10 years they will lay everyone off and it might be the best place to work for?

@OP - you literally just enter your resignation in workday and you select whatever date you like. Don’t need to say anything to your manager.

HR doesnt allow someone to be blacklisted just because they didnt give 2 weeks notice. I know, because I asked HR and they wouldnt allow me to back when i still cared. The only downside is if you ever decide to come back to citi, hr recruiter can see your history and you being at citi for only 1 week is going to come up as a “that’s weird” and they will likely inform the hiring manager. It will be up to hiring manager to decide if they care about that or not to move forward with your application. If you dont ever intend to come back, it’s all moot.

If you do decide to go dark and make them terminate you for failure to show up to work, please let us know the outcome. I’ve fantasized about doing that myself many times and curious to see how long they continue to pay you out for.

Hero, plan on NEVER coming back to Citi,, that makes it easier. Now just stop working, go silent. CitiHR is backarwds and the guy is right, you may still get paid, (disclaimer, don't spend it yet but...no clawback). No record of ever being here, sue them if they say something, they, misrepresented the role. Mine too. Have a great weekend, we admire you. Sincerely, a lurking C15

@cz Pay depends on the timesheet being completed weekly by the employee and approved by the manager.

Everyone applauds the kamikaze resignation and may even talk about it for five minutes before they get back to work. You should think do about whether you’d want to return to Citi in the future. A bad departure will push you onto the do not hire list, a shadow ban that leaves you with one less option.

They could agree notice, but since access and permissions are unlikely to be stood up fully yet. If they are just playing at making your life miserable then just wfh.

@cs

This is the result of people being infantalized by: their parents, their schooling, their equally arrested-developMENTAL peers, social media, and AI.

They've been led to believe that they are incapable of: independent, clear-minded, free-willed decision-making, competent executive functioning, and critical thinking. They prefer to be steeped in feigned helplessness, wilfull blindness, while expecting, begging, and/or demanding that others holding their hand while leading them around in life, because "adulting" is too harrrrrd!

Throw in some supervaXxd nano-particled brain stunting, and here we are.

No note, no letter just stop coming in until they fire you. Payroll will roll for at least 4-6 weeks before they figure it out. Heck it's July. September... Have a great summer, sincerely. Citi HR is highly disorganized, take advantage!

@ce

No one is FORCING you to do anything.
You are allowing yourself to be pressured into thinking that 2 weeks' notice is mandatory.
It's not.

You are a free adult, living in a free country, with free agency about your own life.
Think of it this way, if you got hit by a bus today and (God forbid) were no longer among the living, your boss, and Citi (and anyone else who may be pressuring you about this 2 weeks' notice nonsense) would still keep chugging along at work, without you. They don't get advance notice when someone's out on a medical emergency, and they don't need advance notice when someone quits.

No one is indispensable, and everyone is expendable.
You have the right to quit a job whenever you choose to do so, notice or no notice given.

Get whatever you need off of your work computer today (contacts, HR info., etc.) and then delete all emails, calendar entries, etc. Make it as blank as possible. Then, as another poster suggested, just put this Friday 7/3 in Workday as being your last day. I would also suggest you email HR today, stating that you are resigning "effective immediately," so that way you've given them a courtesy heads up, and it allows time for you to return any equipment and take care of offboarding paperwork with them before you go.

Best of luck to you, and enjoy your newfound FREEDOM!

I can 100% tell you that if you just stopped turning nothing is going to happen. Like actually.

It wouldn't even stop you from getting another job at Citi in another team.

You can only be marked as do not rehire if you have done something really bad or had performance issues.

When you enter your resignation in wd, just choose friday and you are done and dusted.

They are forcing me to 2 weeks notice which is bizarre. I want to keep the door open but the job they hired me is not what they described. It makes no sense to give 2 weeks notice for 1 week. I don't even have access to most...also I refuse to work another day

If Citi has the option to let you go without ANY notice, you too can leave without ANY notice.

HR does not give you a buzz to let you know they will be cutting you in two weeks, you can also do likewise.

No need to give any notice unless you are under contract. It is recommended to give two weeks notice, but it is not mandatory. Email your manager a resignation letter and step off.

1 week doesn't matter. Write a scathing reply to your boss and cc the team and his boss and maybe his boss too. Then log off and forget about it. Your email will get recalled eventually by Tech but might just shake up a few things. But, this move might cause you to not be hirable at Citi again...but that might not be a loss at all
