This is the first week of the new year and everybody is already panicking and thinking about cuts. There is no indication T will have cuts any time soon. Will there be more layoffs? Of course, layoffs are a fact of life nowadays. But that doesn't mean that we have to worry and stress over it 365 days a year. We always get some indicators before layoffs are announced. Currently, there are none. Instead of stressing over something that might not be coming any time soon, take this time to relax and recharge your batteries. There'll be plenty of time to worry later in the year.

Was told today that our group (under Legg) will be notified Jan 12.
Legg announced layoffs in USA to be announce Mid January and followed up with the statement that goes something like this... but that does not mean we are losing employees because we will be hiring a lot in Israel and India - Gee, Thanks! How American! fire American employees from an AMerican Company and hire employee replacements located in another Country
It appears ATS has a Legg up on the other orgs about numbers. Heard 500-800 first go around.

Regular team meetings have been cancelled; Directors/AVPs have not been heard from since the holidays. M best guess is the same as this poster. They are prepping for the layoffs.
Also, same poster said that multiple groups, at least those in ATS under Legg, have all been informed before the holidays that layoffs are coming. We were told that we would most likely be notified of actual layoffs (for the first round, anyway) around Jan 15.

This statement is 1000% erroneous.
The key indicator is that nearly every single leader of nearly every single organization went out of their way to inform their orgs that there will be layoffs in the first quarter.

Looking up AT&T, I see total employees of 169880, or in round numbers, 170K. So a 1% layoff would be 1700 people. Salesforce just announced 10% or 7000. That's a real layoff.
These couple of dozens or small hundreds don't amount to anything major, unless you are the one being laid off.
So, what do I hear, mass markets, 10%? They got 4000 people, so 400? Some of those will be able to transfer, and some will leave via a retirement package.
I don't see 2023 being anything other than another 2022. Nothing major, and more people leaving from quits and retirements than by layoffs.
There probably needs to be something major, but the need is no greater now than in 2022.

There have been announcements that 1/15 is the day for some groups.
There will be cuts and people WILL be laid off, it was announced already, and that is in addition to retirements. Not sure why some are in denial about this but wait 2 weeks and you will see for yourself.

Everyone is relaxed. There are some provocateurs trying to stir things up, but 2023 will be another 2022. There may be some building where leases expire and work will be relocated. Real estate footprint needs to be reduced in general. I don't see any business units available to spin off this year.
There will be the incremental automation improvements. Landline will continue its erosion, with less jobs needed. That's going to be about it.
I guess the original poster is saying don’t stress out over this because your azz is cooked anyway? If I were still at this disaster of a company I probably would be stressing as I have to cover my bills every month. The cuts will be deep…expect 10% min from management.
