New CEO: "Core is a disaster, Government Programs is underwater, and our Leaders aren't accountable" ELT: "We launched an App! and it's almost WEA!" pretty much sums up life here

I assume the last DEI (WEA) will be held this year, as they silently move away from the policy since BP is gone. Notice not much, if at all mention of DEI initiatives lately. 51M of 80M operating defecit (due to Fraud) is all but unrecoverable. That is not the only fraud found, rest assured. Expect more disposable heroes (i.e. Contractors) to fail. I see no way but acquisition by a more competent company with proper infrastructure in place, as Carefirst ceases operations in the near future.
@ar agree. Contractors at this point have been here longer than half the employees left here, they were never supposed to be permanent. But her we are. Bandaids on everything and weve run out of ointment, it’s possible to fix things but not with current ELT. They need to go. More focus on our WEA than business issues getting fixed.
@ar the way it works is that you have to rapidly break something else so there is no time to go back and hold anyone accountable. That's why DH kept re-orging IT every 3 months. I expect a massive new "game changing" initiative to be kicked off in the next two weeks
@a2 I disagree, I think it can be fixed. It probably won’t happen and it certainly wouldn’t be easy.
STOP any and all new pie in the sky programs. Send McKinsey, cognizant, Deloitte, Accenture, etc all out the door except for where they are providing pure staff augmentation.
ELT needs a clean out. Not naming names but the current crew has intentionally burned employee goodwill at every chance they have had. Terminating pension, benefit reductions, and a broad “f you, I got mine” attitude at every CareFirst connect meeting. More than one VSP participant said that the early retirement was the first “nice” thing CareFirst had done for them in years.
Spend a minimum of one year and probably more like two, where the focus of business and IT is nothing but FIXING stuff that should never have been broken to begin with.
See core systems migration through to the end. Until it is done and claims runouts are completed there are no benefits to be realized, only costs & work & overhead.
Products and the backend vendor relationships need to be simplified. CareFirst has spent at least the last decade building products and IT integrations that are too complicated to support, especially with the D-C level contractors and B (at best) level employees that remain.
Stop letting contractors sail the ship. Even the good ones simply do not have the sense of ownership and responsibility to the business that the better employees do.
@aa where are those results? My newly elected “people leader” gives us zero information on anything at all.
@a4 Unasked Question #1: Mr. CEO, how are you discussing the recent Employee Engagement survey with your team? Particularly the part where they were universally slammed?
Did you notice how quickly they rushed through Q&A? Connect was scheduled for 9-10:30am and we lost a real opportunity to ask more questions when it ended at 10:05am. Guess it’s “nothing to see here…get back to work!”
@OP new guy has no idea that there is no fixing it at this point. Employees have been overworked, underpaid and told they don’t matter for too long. The employees no longer care about the company they just want their paycheck and call it a day. Employees tried and were silenced and then used and abused while leadership take their big bonuses for doing nothing other than existing
I was really dejected and came here to check sentiment. Now I'm dejected but I'm cracking up. Thank you for this truth bo-b and the laugh.
