It’s standard practice to have a pay back clause if you take a package and come back within a certain time period, usually 12 months.
The very thought they would pay severance, call back 6 months later to ask you to return AND ask for severance $ back is absolutely hilarious.
That would be a no dawg.
I heard that you have to pay back the severance if they rehire you. AND they will hire you at a significantly lower rate then when you left. Hard pass. I wouldn't reapply to work with a company that didn't value me the first time anyway. No way I would go back even if they called me and offered. They already showed their true colors....no second chances.
@a3 yes, they were offered more and I believe a more senior title.
Curious, was the rehire wage less than what they were making before?
a family member of mine was part of the 2023 layoff and they were called back within 6 months. they turned the offer down.
I'm pretty sure that there is a payback clause in the standard severance package as well.
