Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Update WFH thread

Not sure what all of you people are crying about. To add, converged service rep like myself just takes inbound sales/retention calls all day. One day a week we have a 30 minute meeting and that’s literally it. My friend in Lubbock does the exact same thing but now is permanent WFH as of July because of the surplus. It’s clear that our job does not need to be in office, I would be offline less time if I was conveniently at home. So unless you can answer my question, move. How can I not work from home but he can?

90% of us can work from home but that’s not the company anymore. People are losing jobs and you’re upset that you have to go to an office. Life isn’t fair and neither is AT&T. The great thing about AT&T is they give you the option to leave so if you’re that miserable just go. Stop whining about RTO, this was old and tiresome 3 years ago

@OP Here’s how I replied on what looks like your other post…

Your colleague gets to work from home because they are closing the call center. This week alone, Lubbock, Little Rock, Lafayette, Ocean Springs, and Cedartown were all given the same closure notification. The bargained for population have to be offered an available job, while the management will either be told to relocate or take a surplus.

For years, since WFH has been a thing, that job offer has been to take calls WFH. It’s a baked in guarantee in the Mobility Orange contract this time around. But, that’s the only way someone gets an opportunity to WFH now, as the company is no longer actively hiring Union WFH positions - only full brick-and-mortar or hybrid. So, unless something drastically changes, your only opportunity to WFH will be if the company closes your call center.

If you take the VTP and get 104wks pay, then select the biweekly payment, that means you can WFH for 2yrs

@OP was spot on about people crying and those same people are literally here bashing a fellow co worker on a simple question lol. But to answer as best I can, more than likely the Lubbock office was a lease and are saving money letting them WFH. Maybe you’re in a company owned building so it makes no difference to them. Unfortunately AT&T doesn’t really care about fair so they will just whatever they want. Maybe speak to your union but they more than likely are no help

What a congregation of bootlickers we have in this thread. I hope they don't start to turn on one another. It'd be a true shame.

Take those calls in business casual dress in a non-private cube, or hit the road Jack
